Due up at 1635ET, President Obama holds his first post-Scalia press conference. We assume the propaganda du jour will be the imminent need to appoint a new SCOTUS justice... and why anyone who blocks that plan is "peddling fiction." While he is up there, we assume some comments regarding the escalations in Syria will be discussed... and why Russia (and Putin most clearly) are to blame.

Guaranteed he brings up SCOTUS again even though Mitch closed this chapter by saying he won’t bring a nomination to the floor.
First question, what are you going to do about the GOP blocking your nomination. Obama, first honors Scalia, then the former Constitutional scholar (Obama) now describes the nomination process.
They can’t let 0bama have this. They need to shoot down every person he nominates. The Republicans need only repeat two names:
Ted Kennedy and Robert Bork. Kennedy set the precedent for Senatorial obstructionism. The Republicans would only be playing by the rules set by a democrat.
We won’t go to jail if he doesn’t appoint someone.
He can appoint anyone he wants. He could do it today. He could have done it Saturday.
There is no time table in the Constitution. The Senate can choose to act. Or not.
I expect him to start off next week with an appointment. I don’t think Obama is so cold as to do it before Scalia is buried.
The Senate is obstructionists... McConnell withdrawing into his shell ‘bout now...
