mid the petty bickering, loud rhetoric, and sordid attack ads in this yearâs primary election campaigns, the death of a giant â Justice Antonin Scalia â suddenly overshadows all of that. The vacancy created on the Supreme Court makes painfully clear the huge stakes involved when we choose a president of the United States, just one of whose many powers is the power to nominate justices of the Supreme Court. Justice Scaliaâs passing would be a great loss at any time. But at this crucial juncture in the history of the nation â with 5â4 Supreme Court decisions determining what kind of country America will be â Scaliaâs death can be catastrophic in its consequences, depending on who is chosen to be his successor.

I’d say it is time to rally around the front runner.
They already seem to be more awake now than they have in the last decade.
My sentiments exactly!
I agree we should rally around the front runner. The turnout for Iowa and New Hampshire are setting records. I believe the primary voters are awake. I believe it is the establishment that just does not like the way they are voting.
The tone I get from some articles and posts about this is “Yay! Justice Scalia died! Now people will vote for my candidate!”
Not really my thing.
No one wants Scalia to have died, but reality is that this has now become a major issue..
I will never rally around Donald Trump, unless he makes it out of the primary!
1. Hillary or Sanders would be able to appoint from one to maybe as many as four Justices.
2. Those justices would be liberal.
3. Trump is a clown and Cruz is a vampire that smells bad and nobody likes.
4. If we want to put in Justices we the GOPe likes, then we need to have a winning candidate like Jeb or Rubio.
5. You all need to rally around Jeb or Rubio or Kasich, but make up your minds QUICK!
6. If we do get a reasonable candidate and go on to win the Presidency then we can guarantee you a solid conservative justice like Souter or Kennedy or Roberts.
Now go back to your little lives and think on what we said.
Yes, will it wake up NR and establishment folks - e.g. Bill Kristal — who’ve threatened not to support Trump in the general? If they pave the wave for Hillary, they guarantee a liberal majority on the Supreme Court.
What I'm afraid of is, Scalia's death will wake up and appetize and whip into a foaming frenzy the Armies of the Night as they see their chance to rip our throats out for the next 40 years.
Your posts haven’t been known to ‘lighten the mood’, they’ve typically just been attacks aimed at Cruz.
So sorry missed the ‘mood’.

Otherwise impeccable logic.
Problem is the rest of the logic:
Obola will nominate -- almost typed "nommunist" -- a gay Communist America-sodomizer. We RiNO's don't mind Communists, we can work with anybody, so no problem. And half of us are gay anyway, sooo.... no problem.
So what was the big deal again?
No. The Trumpeteers are lost souls, doomed to following their pied piper into the abyss.
That’s what you say, and I would like to make peace, as I don’t try to as well. I do remember you attacking people on here, but I can confess I am not perfect as well. TRUCE!?
FWIW, Reagan named 2 conservatives and two who evolved, Sandy O’Connor & Anthony Kennedy.
GW Bush named Roberts & Alito.
Seems best case scenario is 50% of GOP picks will be conservative.
Getting pretty burnt out on all the bloody BS in this primary!
