( Vanity ) If Ted Cruz is the Republican nominee
2/15/2016 | mike70

've never started a thread (in 16 years), but I have a question for discussion.

Assume Ted Cruz is the Republican nominee. The Democrat candidate files lawsuits challenging Cruz's Natural Born Citizen status in two or more appellate districts. In one, the Court of Appeals rules that Cruz is a Natural Born Citizen and must appear on ballots. In another, the Court of Appeals rules that Cruz is not a Natural Born Citizen and cannot appear on ballots in that district.

Both cases are appealed to SCOTUS, but no replacement for Justice Scalia is nominated and confirmed. In both cases the Supreme Court splits 4-4. Would the matter revert to the decision of the Appeals Court so Cruz would be on the ballot in some states but not others.

To complicate the matter further, some states, California for example, span two appellate districts. If the decisions conflicted, Cruz would appear on some ballots in a state but not others.

What happens now?

Well then, by all means, let us abandon ALL our principles as fast as we can and when it is obvious that the rigged Demonrat convention will nominate her entitled Royal Thighness, the GOP-E bosses can nominate Bernie Sanders or worse Moral Monster Mitt Romney and then we can WIN!!! or something like that, right?

The Supreme Court would rule that Cruz is eligible 8-0.

“let us abandon ALL our principles”

Why not, seems like Cruz has.

... No, cruz was a Canadian at birth ...

Just as John McCain was a Panamanian at birth.

Get over it already.

Fair point, but only an activist court would rule that Cruz is not an NBC.

If born of a US citizen mother, you are an NBC.

Next?

John McCain was born in Panama...and was eligible.

Totally false. John McCain was born in US territory to two US citizens and to top it off they were assigned there in an official US government capacity.

Your willingness to perpetuate this lie could make a person wonder...

Did you not read the pullquote and understand the absurd statement I was responding to?

Now tell me how you know the RNC won't disqualify trump as the nominee.

You may as well ask me how I know Ted Cruz won't drop out of the race and admit he is not a NBC tomorrow.

That also has nothing to do with the price of beans in China and I question your sanity for asking something so arcane.

Aw, did you write your own Constitution and make up that provision all by your little self? So cute. But go back to playing with Duplo blocks. You're not ready for the 1st grade level yet.

Wow, it took you that long to come up with that? Thanks for the extra effort.

Great, then you willfully made a fool out of yourself. That's even better, not.

Whoa! That reply is almost as brilliant as your fictional NBC definitions. LOL

No, please explain it to me. What quote were you misunderstanding?

Elizabeth Taylor never tried to run for US president. The rest of your post is even more senseless and irrelevant.

I think you are catching on.

OK you win. The old adage about arguing with a fool and all...

Just because Cruz is not eligible to be President doesn't mean a fool will accept that fact. Go ahead and vote as you wish. I will not compromise my principles, nor will I vote to set a precedence allowing a future candidate with divided loyalties to become President and continue our path to oblivion.

Your only hope should be that our whole nation is full of Natural Born fools. I think not.

Stop there, he won’t be the nominee.

I’m sure the founders specifically added the NBC clause to the constitution because they meant for it to be loosely defined and allow for one to be born of a foreign national father and a mother permanently residing in another country (and not working in capacity of the US government in an embassy or military base etc), child born on foreign soil, maintaining dual citizenship until he was about 47 years old.
Yeah, that’s what natural born means. Right. You all act like Cruz is protector of the constitution but he wipes his butt with it by running for president and being INELIGIBLE.

I agree with the author. Cruz is not NBC. I will not be voting for the Canadian either now or in 2018 if he runs for the Senate again.
