A leading Supreme Court analyst thinks Attorney General Loretta Lynch is the "most likely candidate" to replace the late conservative Justice Antonin Scalia.
Tom Goldstein, who runs the influential SCOTUSblog, had earlier predicted Ninth Circuit Judge Paul Watford would make the top of President Obama's shortlist. But in a revised blog post, Goldstein said he now believes Lynch is the leading contender.
Lynch is a "very serious possibility," Goldstein wrote. "The fact that Lynch was vetted so recently for attorney general also makes it practical for the president to nominate her in relatively short order."

Do you really think he won’t?
Politics is a funny game. I could see him doing it, just to say “When I am in, I expect the same treatment!”.

It hasn’t been that long ago when the Democrats were complaining about an appointment “upsetting the balance of the court.” Putting a leftist jurist in would certainly do that.

I think anyone who is not a leftist understands how that would be the end of our constitutional republic.

I think the Republican Congress should take as long to make their choice for SCOTUS
as 0dunga did to render a decision on the XL Keystone Pipeline (took him 7 YEARS to decide) or submit subpoenaed documents on Fast & Furious.
He STILL owes Congress and the courts Fast & Furious documents!

she won’t make it if the GOPe grows a backbone...
or at least tries to be what they claim they are.

“Not one of his picks should ever get out of committee.”
Agreed. We all need to burn up the phone lines to make sure that EACH AND EVERY SENATOR knows that THIS ISSUE will decide their personal fate in politics.
Obama CANNOT be allowed to put anyone on the Court in Scalia’s place.

I was so shocked to hear about Scallia’s death, however if you all really look at what has gotten through the court even with Scallia there I am starting to calm down just a little bit!!! The senate needs to HOLD BACK on this nomination or we NEED to get out the pitch forks!!!! Unfortunately for us McConnel was just reelected so we have no leverage on him!!!!

She is a fast-talking pseudo-intellectual America-hating racist White-hating marxist, just like her boss. Then he would have to find another pseudo-intellectual America-hating racist White-hating marxist for attorney general.

A committee vote is a recommendation. Once on the floor the nomination can be confirmed, even if voted out of committee with a negative recommendation. The key in this is not to let Obama logroll the full Senate vote, it is to never schedule confirmation hearings in the Judiciary Committee, so it never gets voted out (positively or negatively) of committee. If Obama sends a nomination over to the Senate, they have no obligation to do anything with it. See Miguel Estrada.
