Here's another question certain to divide Americans this year: Should President Obama be allowed to appoint (and should the Senate confirm) a Supreme Court justice to replace Antonin Scalia? Should that process be delayed until after the presidential election, as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has pledged to pursue?
"The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice," McConnell said. "Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new President." Several of the GOP candidates agree, including Ben Carson, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio.
-snip-
What do you think? Should Obama's choice be vetted, and if found qualified, confirmed? Are Republicans right to think the next president and Senate should make this choice? Have a say in our informal poll, and feel free to add to the conversation in the comments section.

I know there have been posts on this forum to that end, but I'm talking about the newsies.
Can't they spend at least a little time acknowledging his time on earth?
Let’s keep bumping this people.
63% next year
Polls are a waste of time. They’re gonna do whatever they want in Washington regardless of what we say.
Wait 70%
Now 30%
in Pennsylvania...encouraging 70% wait
“Can’t they spend at least a little time acknowledging his time on earth?”
Why? Its not like he contributed anything important to the world like running with a ball or strumming the same three guitar cords over and over again for 30 years
voted to wait doing very well. Freep the poll.
Remember Judge Bork how the Dems held him up.
Make them wait.
I'm not expecting an entire week like James Brown or Robin Williams got. But at least a FEW minutes.
Thank you for voting!
Wait until next year. 71.4% (422 votes)
This year. 27.75% (164 votes)
I don’t know/I’m not sure. 0.85% (5 votes)
Total Votes: 591
The president should nominate someone. And the senate should confirm or not.
If Bork is still alive and Obama nominates him I’m all for confirmation “this year” and the senate will probably work with Obama.
If Obama picks someone who thinks the supreme court should take another country’s laws into consideration when ruling then the senate should not confirm and I doubt they will.
It’s in Obama’s control whether or not the senate considers a candidate - he knows what they will accept and he can either work with them or not.
Honor Judge Bork who the libs kept from being an awesome SC Judge.
vote wait so we can get a conservative Judge like Bork
Hey, at least he got flags at half staff like Whitney Houston.
71.3% Next Year
Well the Republicans did no favors to Scalia when they immediately said no confirmation this year. They could have waited until after the funeral to say it. It started this whole cascade.
