“When facts are undetermined, obscured, or actively shunned, conspiracy theories will abound.

The judge that signed off on the death certificate did so over the phone. For a high-profile person like this, that is the height of arrogant stupidity.”

Absolutely!

Imagine hussein dismisses his security detail and is found dead with a pillow over his face while on vacation at a remote resort in Hawaii owned by a Republican donor.

Local GOP Justice of the Peace rules heart attack without having a doctor examine the body and no autopsy is ordered.

Would the left and the msm just say "years of hard drug abuse and gay sex will do that" and move on?

If any of them suspected foul play, he or she would have demanded an autopsy.

Not necessarily. In fact, one could draw the opposite conclusion.

“You can never convince a tin foil conspiracy theorists.”

Autopsies were not designed by/for tin foil conspiracy theorists. In some states, it would have been required by law.

We do need to be careful, though.

There are likely many facts known to the actors in this case (not meaning thespians, BTW) that are unknown to the public. The public, I believe, has a limited right to know the circumstances, but Scalia and his family retain a right to some privacy.

It’s a difficult middle ground, but I do not see the current level of disclosure as supporting closure of the case, from a public perspective.

I sleep with a pillow over my head, sometimes 2, depending on how loud my husband is snoring.

You think you can determine whether or not a person is liberal by looking at photos? And most of the videos I have seen of Trump are presented to show he is conservative.

And contrarily, there are plenty of videos of your consistent conservative prince not appearing very consistent at all.

No GOP politician has spoken out on this looking suspicious; someone we might listen to, from TX. politicians to anyone else.

Orrin Hatch was just on Fox; but I know networks often steer away from controversy.

I’ve read the reports and a lot of comments.

I’ve seen no evidence of foul play.

But hey, when you don’t know, make shit up.

It’s the American way.

“You apparently hav never been around when some one has died. This is NOT unusual”

I’ve been around death and dying. My grandmother who was 92 did not have an autopsy, but she was sick for many years and died in her own bed.

My mother and father both had one. Autopsies are very common in our country.

The fact that a high profile important person like Scalia died in a remote place that was not part of his normal routine should have indicated an autopsy. If Ginsberg died under similar circumstance out of her normal routine, are you going to tell me that the left wouldn’t be demanding an autopsy? I don’t care how old she is. They both manage to go to work all the time. How many 79 year olds work?

The way I read the story, the coroner thought this death was just ‘another body in the desert’, and he didn’t want to be bothered with it...so this is why the over the phone death pronouncement.

I assume this means he thought it was a dead illegal alien trying to cross. To me, its just another symptom that illegal immigration is overwhelming our system - to the point that coroners now do phone pronouncements.

“pillow over the head” - Man who found him, quoted in Hou Chron.

The nutty, weirdness of it all is from supposedly reputable sources (given they are Democrats).

Autopsies are useful. Yes the US does them more than other countries but they are NOT standard

This Poindexter is a different guy, ultra-successful Houston businessman and from reading the other threads, he sounds like an independent but still, a heavy contributor to Democrats.

I’d like to know who else was on the guest list there.

I think we’re missing the main issue in these comments.

The question of motive is always important to determine if an investigation is needed. If a spouse in a bad marriage dies, it usually merits deeper investigation.

So what is the downside for Democrats with Scalia’s death? I can’t think of any. And what is the upside? It’s so high that the celebration of his passing is one of the highest I’ve seen on liberal sites.

Here some things the Democratic party has now that he’s died.
1. A bludgeon on Republicans being “unfair” if they don’t confirm Obama’s appointment. This brings out the unfair partisan card that will help Dems in some swing states.
2. A Supreme Court that cannot overturn an appeals court ruling for Dems in a contested election.
3. A Supreme Court that can stop Trump or Cruz’s election for any reason. How far will the left go to keep them out of office?

Net result: Campaign optics that help Dems all the way. Multiple roadmaps to cheat to the win with one more impediment removed.

So, the benefit is clearly there. If a group of Dems (and it could be anyone with no clear connection to Washington Dems) decide one of the three most conservative justices need to be removed, which one will they choose? It makes the most sense to choose the one that’s the oldest and the least healthy. Choose the one that travels alone with no security. If you’re from an area of the country with hard-line old-school Democrats, invite him to your ranch. Use the local machine to cover the evidence quickly and you’re done.

There’s motive, means and opportunity. But nobody wants to look.

Politicians are paranoid about being accused of “conspiracy theories”.

That is one of many reasons why they are totally useless.

(As to this case, I have no clue either way.)
