On the Tragic Passing of Justice Antonin Scalia
The Jerusalem Post ^ | 2/15/16 | Yomin Postelnik

There are people who seek to preserve and protect the fibers of a functional society, the most important of which are decency and morality. Justice Antonin Scalia fought for these values at a time when many others felt it more opportune to destroy these societal pillars, without which no civilization can last. This makes his passing especially tragic and untimely. For the sake of his soul and for the sake of our continued well being, it should also serve as a call to action.

There are certain events that remind people how far and off track society has fallen and this is true in the case of Justice Scalia's passing. More than the fact that one of the last representatives of what was generally good is now lost to the public, the Supreme Court has had a destructive effect on society for the past 60 years. That cannot go unnoticed.

It is important to remember that Scalia—like Robert Bork—opposed such things as gay marriage and abortion, in his profession as a judge, because the American People never intended, and never said, in their Constitution, that a state was to be compelled to legalize either gay marriage or abortion.

This was a consequence of their intellectual honesty, not a consequence of their Catholic Faith.

Although—and here is a truth apparently not known to the Pope or the vast majority of bishops—intellectual honesty is mandated by the moral teaching of the Catholic Church.

There’s also no better clarity than that which comes from religion. It guides people on basic matters and lets us think straight. People don’t realize how much America benefited from its Judeo-Christian values and how much today’s hedonists have cheated themselves out of life.

It seems quite “trendy” to trash our Judeo-Christian roots. That kind ignorance is dangerous, as you point out so well.
Great article/post.

Yes, our nation is only beginning to suffer the heavy penalties for repeated and ever increasing violation of the Laws of Nature.
