Donald Trump, Republican Front-Runner, Wins Applause From Code Pink

It’s not every day that anti-war groups find themselves cheering on leading Republican presidential candidates. But, then again, this hasn’t been a presidential campaign that’s stuck to the script.

The morning after he called the Iraq War a huge misstep and argued that President George W. Bush lied to get the country into it, Donald Trump has earned praise from, of all places, Code Pink, the group best known for protesting the Iraq War and subsequent military interventions.

“I watched the debate last night and LOVED IT,” Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin said in an email.

The man state his opinion a long time ago. Trump has proven to be right. Then BO came in and screwed everything up.
So tell me, How did that all work for you?

I hate to be on the same side as Code Oink on any issue. I supported going to war in Iraq on the basis of Saddam Hussein flagrantly breaking a long series of UN resolutions as well as cheating on the sanctions for many years while enriching himself. Having said that, I can’t disagree with Trump that many lives were lost, billions of dollars were spent (borrowed money, not budgeted), and the US has nothing to show for it, except for more ongoing problems in the ME and lots more debt.

Doesn’t matter what facts are anymore on here for some. they are so blindly by their hatred for the other candidate that they would rather vote for Sanders or Clinton.

I do suspect though some are paid trolls by a campaign.

We I think were all for the war, but today it has proved a mess with thousands of lives lost for us and for what?

Then-prez GWB got duped into the war---and none of the warmongers understood the Mideast mindset. We were there to sap-happily show them the virtue of democracy and get all warm and cuddly inside as they embraced it......

Hah...they did not even embrace us as liberators.

The US has never figured out to this day, that those Mideast mudholes needed strongmen like Saddam and Khadafi to contain their whacko people....who are now marauding all over Europe....and are coming here.

The indigenous Mideaster/s saw the money-making opportunities of a superpower in their midst, and the US stupidly let them pick our pockets.

The US gamely decided to "train" these people.... it took five years and billions of dollars to get 4-5 of them ready for combat. They/re now using billions in abandoned US war materiel against us.

The war profiteering was humongous; the WSJ announced neocon godfather Richard Perle (above the fray---conveniently based in Paris) was starting his own Mideast oil company.

The biggest fraud was at the Bank of Kabul where the CIA and DOD deposited billions to finance the war. Afghan insiders could withdraw all they wanted---w/ no requirement to pay it back. Afghanistan/s Kharzi was seen loading billions of US dollars into a truck to send abroad.

=============================================

Bush estimated the Iraq strike would cost $50-60 billion.......then an angry Bush fired advisor Larry Lindsey because Lindsay dared to say the war might cost more like $100 billion.

That was in 2007 dollars.

FAST FORWARD TO TODAY Iraq and Afghanistan today have cost the US some $3 TRILLION....and rivers of young blood.

We/re still pouring US tax dollars into those decrepit Mideast countries, and..... as Donald says....we got NOTHING in return.

My image of conservatives is totally blown.
I never imagined they’d fall for a charlatan like this.

I ask in all seriousness, is there anybody in the entire world who could say anything about their support, or non-support, of Donald Trump that would get you to question your support of him?

If not, doesn’t that concern you?

It is a mess and all progress lost because Obama has handed the hard fought victories and terrorist controlled territories back to the enemy and now is funding the Iranian government. There is only one true enemy of the United States that has ever defeated the U.S. military and that is the American Political Left.

The only winner from this whole debacle was Iran.

“Jeb and the Bush Crime Family” page 331-332

“Mission accomplished, at least for George W. Bush. The man who plotted to kill his father, and committed untold other crimes, is dead. But 12 year later, more than 4,000 American
Troops have died in Iraq—and $1.7 trillion dollars have already been spent, a number that increases every day. The weapons of mass destruction George W. claimed were there, and used to justify that human and financial cost, were never found.

The people of Iraq? The horror of Saddam has been replaced by the horror of civil war, ISIS, and an entirely uncertain future.

But George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld got their man...”

Compare two unrelated wars and political climates simply to cover for your guy.

Cultism - it’s here to stay!

“My image of conservatives is totally blown.”

Yeah. Iraq was an awesome success!! It cost little, was over in a week, and no American died! And on top of that we stopped terrorism, found a crap-ton of WMDs, and left a stable democracy that is holding back Iran!

Conservatism =/= admitting you were wrong when you are, it means doubling down on stupid decisions apparently.

“Compare two unrelated wars and political climates simply to cover for your guy.”

Cover for a pointless conflict that left us worse off because you are too pig-headed to admit it was a clusterf*ck.

Hopefully Cruz runs on invading Syria, and going to war with Russia, like a REAL CONSERVATIVE would, huh?

The war in Iraq WAS a disaster on a scale with Viet Nam.

Of what benefit to the people of the USA or the world was that colossal endeavor?

What did we gain that was worth 4,000+ lives and 40,000 wounded? Not to mention the wear on equipment and $4 trillion.

Egypt, Lybia and now Syria are merely extensions of that original over-reach...dominoes of logic. And now it could extend to existential war with Russia because of stupidity.

Our founders would be appalled.

Trump is the only person in this race that understands that.
