Supreme Court Justice Antontin Scalia died Saturday while on a hunting trip in Texas.
He was 79, a pioneer of conservative thought on the Court, and will be forever remembered for his acerbic wit and legendary quotes.
Now with Republicans both in the presidential race and the Senate saying they’ll stall until 2017 to allow a new Justice to be seated on the court, the question is here: Which candidate do Republicans trust the most to name Scalia’s successor?
The answer, according to an Independent Journal Review poll conducted by Google Consumer Surveys, is Ted Cruz, trailed by Donald Trump and Marco Rubio.
The poll was conducted nationwide among 1,554 likely Republican voters who watched the CBS News GOP debate on Saturday, Feb. 13.

I missed that. Thanks.

How do you know unless you look into it? As far as I know, he hasn't been a frequent (ever?) traveler to Canada. When would this be tested?
On the flip side, he has been in the USA for nearly all of his life and his citizenship here has never been questioned... until now. It wasn't even questioned when he ran for Senate and that position has a citizenship requirement. It's only questioned now because the establishment fears him the most, he doesn't have skeletons in his closet, and it's the only avenue they have to defeating him substantively.
How can this poll have any real meaning or legitimacy?
Well he was only 43. Come on. Some of us come through puberty later than others.
I agree. Love Cruz for Supreme Court
Cut the BS, there's cultist here on both sides.
Don't let the disruptors on either side define the candidates.
And I say that as a Cruz and Trump supporter, the rational debate always disappears here on this site during the silly season.
Why be a part of it?
Me too.
But everybody's shouting, "Which side are you on?"
I think Cruz would be the best by far, with one possible exception. Cruz is my first choice for president, but I’d have mixed feelings on that if Trump announced that his first Supreme Court nomination would go to Ted Cruz. Cruz would be a great intellectual originalist Justice, a worthy replacement for Scalia.
I'm on the pro America anti DC elitist side myself.
For me, both Cruz and or Trump meet that criteria but the crap flinging on both sides is getting rather tiresome and a poor reflection of FR and conservatives.
I never realized we had so many idiot juveniles with conservative beliefs, makes me question their credentials.
I have serious problems with both Trump and Cruz, but I sure-as-hell ain't voting for a Marxist or a criminal rapist-enabler.
Ted? A Canadian anchor baby who’s pushing the limits of our people’s understanding of the NBC clause, by running for President of America?
Sure, he’ll uphold a strict interpretation of our Constitution. No conflict of interest there.
Well said.
I probably won’t make up my mind how to vote until the March 15 NC primary (which may not even be on March 15, since the libs have won a court decision that two of the redrawn congressional districts are unconstitutional due to race. Too many blacks in the majority-minority districts! Sigh. Appeal pending to US Supreme Court for a stay.)
“When this has been largely settled by every competent judicial review conducted”
please post links to said “every competent judicial reviews” and said opinions about the Cruz matter.
“Yep, the Trump support is almost cult like”
But yet the Cruz support, consisting of people looking for biblical clues in everything he does, and manned by an army of people that post article to FR 24/7, looking for ANYTHING they can to try to convince you to join them...
Is just completely rational?
I can more than assume that if Cruz could attract Trump’s numbers and support tomorrow, he would jump at the chance.
But he’s not, therefore you have to bitterly consign Trump’s support to a “cult”.
Like why the hell would you people be trying to get the mass support of people you stupidly call CULTISTS?
Ted’s citizenship isn’t in question. What’s being questioned, is whether he meets the Framers’ understanding of what a natural born citizen is.
There’s a huge difference between the two.
Thanks.
I’m registered for the caucus here and still haven’t mad up my mind either....I hate to admit it but this is a tough decision for me, I never have a problem with making decisions but this time....
This is a game changer for me. There is no longer any doubt in my mind who I’ll be supporting and it’s Ted Cruz.
My heart always said Ted.; I’m just so sick of politicians that I WAS leaning Trump...no longer, if the Republic is to survive.
“How can this poll have any real meaning or legitimacy? “
It doesn’t.
They did it likely expecting some massive blow-out for Cruz, and managed to get 1 point outside the MOE. At best it’s a wash between them.
But propaganda is propaganda, so here it is for that particular side to jump around and virtue signal to each other.
Is he supposed to know Constitutional law in detail?
Same here. I caught the first half hour of the PBS debate the other night then had to turn it off.....that is some scary stuff right there
If either the burn or clintoon gets in, we are finished.
And for those who are concerned with SCOTUS pointments, they best wise up.
