Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump hailed the legacy of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia on Saturday.
Scalia was found dead at the age of 79 earlier in the day.
"Justice Scalia was a remarkable person and a brilliant Supreme Court Justice, one of the best of all time," Trump said.
"His career was defined by his reverence for the Constitution and his legacy of protecting Americans' most cherished freedoms," Trump continued. "He was a justice who did not believe in legislating from the bench and he is a person whom I held in the highest regard and will always greatly respect his intelligence and conviction to uphold the Constitution of our country."

Trump is awesome. His tribute on Scalia is the best of all the candidates. This guy is definitely working hard to get the nomination.
God Bless Justice Scalia and Donald Trump and both families.
People say Trump isn’t conservative but he respects conservatives and thinks there needs to be lots of conservatives.
I’m crushed naps. TWO Italian Americans on the SC at one time!
We were all so proud!!
Trump’s statement was very classy.
no politics in it on a night when there should be none.
I know they will be forced to address it in the debate tonight, but i wont be watching.
Found dead in a Texas resort...cause of death not immediately released....
It is hoped that Justice Scalia’s death was natural and not conjured up by some Progressive swine who wants to tilt the court to the far left.
Just conjecturing.
IMHO
Libs on FB already squawking that McConnell would be EVIL to hold up a nomination. Easily forgetting the Borking of Judge Bork and Reid holding up endless bills.
It’s gonna be an ugly year.
So proud to be a Trump supporter. Have seen him in action for the past 35 yrs here in NY. He is the real deal as a leader.
Just food for thought, but we had three Jews and with Scalia six Catholics on the USSC . . . and not a single Protestant, despite the fact that Protestants are the majority religion in America. Maybe time for a Protestant?
With due respect, I believe that SJ Antonin Scalia served equally with those who have lost their lives to preserve this Country and our Constitution.
He also educated many through his rulings.
Odd, since Scalia was one of the dissenting votes in Kelo v City of New London
My thoughts exactly when I read the words “found dead”.
Gospodi pomiluj!
Trump is right! Now let us hope that mumbler McConnell stays off any and all efforts by Obama and the Islamo-Socialist Democrats to stick us with a Bernie Sanders type or a Farrakhan in the court before the American people can express their views on this in the 2016 General.
God bless Justice Scalia and comfort his family. What a great man. He was a rock for our Republic. It is a dark day for our nation.
May God have mercy on us. It is almost impossible to expect the Republicans to go tell Obama to pound sand and leave the choice for next president.
Justice Scaliaâs death should remind all of us that there are another at least two justices who are approaching 80 years of age. IS THERE ONE PERSON ON THIS WEBSITE WHO CAN ARGUE THAT THEY WOULD PREFER TO HAVE DONALD TRUMP RATHER THAN TED CRUZ FILLING OUR NEXT SUPREME COURT vacancies? Cruz has prepared 80 Supreme Court briefs and to the best of my knowledge argued at least 10 cases before the Court, including the critical Heller decision (where he was one of the lead attorneys). Trump has no understanding of the court and even suggested that he would appoint his nutty, left-wing federal judge sister (who is a pro-abort) to the court. WE CAN DO BETTER FOR OUR FUTURE THAN TRUMP APPOINTING SUPREME COURT JUSTICES. Trump has been an enemy of conservatives (Democrat, donor to Democrats, etc.) for most of his life. Now Iâm supposed to believe heâs our friend. So, if by some miracle of hell itself, we get Trump as our president, who shows up â the Democrat Trump or the faux new Republican?
Tell that to the people here who stayed home solely because Romney was a Mormon. They were very open about it. Now, where would we be today if Obama had lost?
I was stationed in Italy for 5 years from 2005 to 2011. What a privilege it was for me. I absolutely love everything Italian. I am so sorry for the loss of Justice Scalia and I share your crushed feelings.
Yes. Right on the mark.
Can any of you Trump supporters point me toward Trump comments on SC Justices before he decided to run for President? I’ve looked, but I’m not having any luck.
He’s a private citizen.
Should he have had a roster of quotes?
long before he was running he praised justice Clarence Thomas
