Senior U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia found dead at West Texas ranch

Associate Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead of apparent natural causes Saturday on a luxury resort in West Texas, federal officials said.

Scalia, 79, was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a resort in the Big Bend region south of Marfa. According to a report, Scalia arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found a body.

U.S. District Judge Fred Biery said he was among those notified about Scalia's death.

"I was told it was this morning," Biery said of Scalia's death. "It happened on a ranch out near Marfa. As far as the details, I think it's pretty vague right now as to how," he said. "My reaction is it's really unfortunate with any death. And now, politically, in the presidential cycle we're in my educated guess is nothing will happen before the next president is elected."

Looks like it is time to wrap up the fund raiser so we can all work on the Senators. We need to let them know that their jobs are on the line! My Senators will not help us with this but Maybe we can start contacting Senators in adjoining states. A list of opponents to some of the most blatant Rinos so we can support their opposition.

Yes. Our country is in dire peril.

I WANT to believe that there is still enough wisdom and integrity to know and understand campaign bluster as opposed to what is crucially correct for our nation.

Oh please. He was 79, overweight, and a smoker. Tragedy, yes; murder, highly, highly unlikely.

So?

Was he in ill health?

He is the one to remove he was the heart of conservatism on the court. You don’t know what you’re dealing with if you don’t bring it up for consideration.

These are the people who killed Ambassador Stevens and his gang, who imprisoned some unknown filmmaker because it served their purposes, who have whitewashed pasts, and have held FBI files and hired henchmen. Who have covered up rape and openly celebrated prostitution with barney frank and his friends.

These are filthy people.

YOu look at everything.

I thank God that we had Scalia. This is a terrible loss for America, but the loss will be so noticeable because he was a great blessing for many decades.

Scalia was the 5th vote that ensured out right to bear arms.

Everything is at risk now.

I feel a little ill over this news. I think Nino Scalia was the greatest justice in the history of the Supreme Court. I saw him several times during Oral Arguments. He was always sharp, incisive, and often witty. I saw him reduce a lawyer into a stammering mess through his challenging questions. I even met him once at the Washington Opera after a performance of Lucia di Lammermoor in 2002 (he was a big opera fan).

The man was a brilliant Originalist and Textualist, who had the guts to call out slopping thinking and inconsistencies. A clerk for Harry Blackmun wrote that the clerks for the left-wing justices were always intimidated and frightened by Scalia’s no-holds-barred dissents. The thought that Obama will get to replace Scalia is horrifying.

If Eric Holder or Valerie Jarrett are nominated then count your blessings because the hearings will just draaaaaaaag out until next December.

No TDS I might even vote for him if he is the nominee But don’t kid yourself that he is a conservative or would know how to pick a conservative justice. I didn’t even start this was just answering the one who was sure president Trump would save the court with his pick Color me skeptical

Any guess who 0bama will appoint?

Should be Ted Cruz although I doubt it.

If I was Obama that's exactly what I'd do! He'd have to resign his seat on the Senate Judiciary Committee to accept the nomination. McTurtle would insert some squish in his place to vote against him. As soon as his nomination is quashed in Committee, Obama is free and clear to nominate Holder who'll be voted out of Committee and on to a Senate floor vote. Let's see what happens then.

For the sake of diversity, 0bama will appoint a Muslim to the Supreme Court. Someone who will implement Shariah law.
