FORT MILL - With just a week left to persuade evangelical South Carolina voters that he is the only Republican alternative to Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and conservative pundit Glenn Beck thrilled more than 2,000 of the faithful late Thursday at MorningStar Fellowship, a Fort Mill megachurch.
Cruz vowed to be the dam that would stop a liberal wave, saying he will fight for the sanctity of marriage, return the military to strength, and secure the borders against a tide of illegal immigration.
"I will stop amnesty and secure the borders," Cruz told The Herald before the event. "I will stand and fight for the Constitution and the sanctity of marriage and religious liberty."
Despite the event's being organized in just 48 hours, Cruz' supporters lined up hours before the event and filled the sanctuary to hear the Texas senator promise to stop liberals dead in their tracks. The crowd jammed the balconies of the one-time hotel on what used to be the PTL ministry property.

Billy Graham endorse Hillry Clinton and covered over a multitude of old bjClintons sins... I detest religious fakes.
(sarcasm)
They shouldn’t have pulled the ad. I thought it was very effective. Christianity bits about redemption. As long as the girl is not doing porn movies or whatever anymore and is now a Christian, that is good enough for me.
Because Cruz supports are a bunch of holier than thou church ladies. They get off on wagging a finger at someone else and scolding them for not being holy enough or conservative enough. The whole Cruz campaign is a campaign of shaming other Republicans. Like the old saying goes, when you wag a finger at someone else, there are 3 fingers pointing back at you.
Cruz supporters, go ahead and select your pope. We are selecting a president.
Sure they do. Don't you remember knowing all about Romney's impressive giving? Isn't tithing an announcement of giving 10%? Don't they reveal it to get charitable deductions on their income tax?
Besides which, Trump doesn't just give to charities. There are numerous stories about him reaching out to help individuals in need.

“.........For millennia, snake-oil salesman have promised shortcuts, quick fixes, secret tricks, and easy riches by claiming that the Powers that Be are deliberately hiding the good stuff. In the past, the Powers that Be could hold such claims at bay, particularly in the political realm. But now, the spammers are inside the gates, threatening to overturn it all with one secret trick that will deliver happiness, justice and, of course, winning forever.”
Actually, some clarification.
‘Giving to charity’ <> acts of charity.
I couldn’t care less what appears on a tax form - after all, the Clinton Foundation is a charity.
Attacking a character because he doesn’t parade his charity on a tax form (as the OP seemed to be doing) is just wrong.
I am a deacon in a Southern baptist Church and the more I see of Ted Cruz the less I like him. I can’t put my finger on the issue but the more of him I see the more oleaginous he appears.
There are many bizarre things about this election...
Compare and contrast Trump to Rush.... Both have lived very similar lifestyles... What makes Rush conservative and Trump is not? Trump has a better work ethic. I do not think Trump has been divorced and remarried as many times as Rush. Rush has even entered the bizarre world claiming that Cruz is like Reagan... Reagan was a Harvard Law School lawyer?
Why DOESN’T this bother you???
It shows a complete misunderstanding for the faith he claims to have.
It exposes the depth of his faith or rather lack thereof.
It provides insight into the content of his character.
It’s extremely relevant in regards to the most powerful position in the world.
It was just as important in framing who Obama is as it was in framing who Bush was.
Trump claims to be one thing, but even in something as basic as his eternal salvation, he lacks the basic understanding of what that means. He has the inability to recognize himself as a sinner in need of salvation. His hubris is that of someone whose god is not the almighty, but rather himself.
You must see how that is at least SOMEWHAT relevant...?
Each has been married 3 times.
More Cruz supporter, holier than thou, church lady finger wagging.
Ted Cruz prays, “Lord, be with me on my journey to the White House.”
The Lord responds, “Oh, did Donald Trump invite you to his inauguration also?”
We need a man of principle and character. Not a charlatan whom we cannot trust.
This is the crux of the problem. We cannot verify with certainty who exactly Trump is.
We are dealing with someone who has had a claimed recent conversion to conservatism. In order to believe that, I need to see evidence beyond the book, interviews, and donations which prove he is actually a liberal RAT.
So that makes his word and the content of his character even that much more important.
I have to have something to decipher who he is. A man’s faith is usually a solid indicator of that. His understanding of his own faith, something five year olds around the world come to a basic understanding of, is completely lacking.
It shows he is being dishonest with something so critical as whom his god is. Combined with the inconsistencies of his past, in my mind it alone disqualifies him as a potential candidate.
Have you checked into Cruz’s daddy’s theology? I find it far more troubling than Trumps lack of playing a religious zealot. I find it more against Christ to play the preacher on campaign stumps and then go hang out with a bunch of devils running a campaign.
I had to look up "oleaginous". It fits, and I agree.
The reason Ted Cruz does not want to legally resolve his citizenship issue is that it cannot be resolved in his favor, i.e. any honest resolution will show that he has never been a US citizen, period.
Here is a solid understanding on who God is and what He did for mankind from both Cruz and his father.
Cruz’ religious convictions are not something I question at all. He has a crystal clear understanding of who God is and what He did for us.
Additionally, his beliefs are not something which are needing particular scrutinization given his SOLID record of conservative values and fighting for conservative principles.
Trump has a record opposite of that. He has the record of a liberal. He even blames conservatives for the mess our country finds itself in.
Sorry, but we need to examine who this man is more than just jumping on some populist bandwagon.
The more I examine, the more I am certain Donald J. Trump would be the worst president this country has ever seen. He is nothing more than a lying charlatan whom has pulled the wool over your eyes.
If elected, he will lead to the destruction of this once great nation. Guaranteed.
Rush is in his fourth marriage now.
I feel the same way.
I mean, he seems to hit most of the right points and he speaks and debates well, but something inside me is raising a red flag
Cruz is not truthful. He lies with the best that Harvard Law School produces. Cruz is not nor will he ever be a ‘natural born’ US citizen. God hates liars.
