FORT MILL - With just a week left to persuade evangelical South Carolina voters that he is the only Republican alternative to Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and conservative pundit Glenn Beck thrilled more than 2,000 of the faithful late Thursday at MorningStar Fellowship, a Fort Mill megachurch.
Cruz vowed to be the dam that would stop a liberal wave, saying he will fight for the sanctity of marriage, return the military to strength, and secure the borders against a tide of illegal immigration.
"I will stop amnesty and secure the borders," Cruz told The Herald before the event. "I will stand and fight for the Constitution and the sanctity of marriage and religious liberty."
Despite the event's being organized in just 48 hours, Cruz' supporters lined up hours before the event and filled the sanctuary to hear the Texas senator promise to stop liberals dead in their tracks. The crowd jammed the balconies of the one-time hotel on what used to be the PTL ministry property.

SC Poll: Trump 32, Cruz 26, Rubio 20, Bush 10
Donald Trump pulls negative SC Cruz ad, campaign goes all positive
..."Trump's campaign manager Corey Lewandowski decided to go with only positive ads starting Thursday."..
Oops!:
Ted Cruz Pulls Ad After Film History of Actress Is Revealed
"The Ted Cruz campaign on Thursday pulled a 30-second ad attacking 2016 rial Marco Rubio after it learned that one of the actresses featured in the spot previously appeared in pornographic films....
[Amy] Lindsay, who identified as a Christian conservative, previously told BuzzFeed that the Cruz campaign "absolutely knew everything that I have done." She later called the outlet back to say she "was wrong in that statement."
2,000! That’s so yuge!
10,000 is even yuger!
Here is the “pulled” ad. (Nothing ever leaves the Internet)
BTW, Amy Lindsay, who identified as a Christian conservative, is the blond who warns the others about voting for “just a pretty face”.
Oh I forgot that was 24 hours
Yes, but 2,000 was all they could get in the church building. If Donald Trump would book more events at churches, he would have smaller crowds.
Evangelical cant win the general, sad but true.
10,000 is even yuger!YEP, it's a lot.
February 10, 2016: GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump held a campaign rally at Clemson University at T. Ed Garrison Arena in Pendleton, SC. Mr. Trump spoke to an estimated 10,000 fired up supporters.
That was last night.
Tonight in Baton Rouge LA. he had 11,000 inside with 4,000 outside that couldn't get in.
Looks as if we will have to settle for a Presbyterian this time. ;-)
in SC and Louisiana Trump had his back to back rallies attended by over ten thousand plus in each and they were both held in the thick of evangelical land.. close to 30 thousand(counting overflow) God fearing bible believing Americans in two rallies
I wonder if Ted passed the collection plate?
Ah, given some church services I have attended, that money plate is priority number one... Trump exposed what generally happens in many churches.
WOW! I had no idea. But I’m not surprised, even God fearing bible believing Americans want to make America great again...
Cruz might have passed the collection plate but he most likely didn’t put anything in it,, Mr. Big Time Christian donates less than 1% to charity
Those are pretty big crowds, you could make a documentary of all the Trump rallies so far of screen shots, all packed.
Would make a good campaign ad as well.
Donald Trump is holding political rallies to be president.
Cruz is holding church meetings to be the First Pastor and his sheep follow him.
.."When I drink my little wine - which is about the only wine I drink - and have my little cracker, I guess that is a form of asking for forgiveness, and I do that as often as possible because I feel cleansed," he said. "I think in terms of 'let's go on and let's make it right.'"
Actual Christians don’t reveal what they give to charity.
