Thursday, February 11, 2016: GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump will hold a campaign rally in Baton Rouge, LA at the Baton Rouge River Center. The event is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM CST.
As the "Capital City", Baton Rouge is the political hub for Louisiana, and is the second-largest metropolitan city in the state, with an estimated population of 228,895 as of 2014. The metropolitan area surrounding the city, known as Greater Baton Rouge, had a population of 820,159 people as of 2013.The urban area has around 594,309 inhabitants.
HOW DID BATON ROUGE GET ITS NAME?
The French name le baton rouge ("the red stick") is the translation of a native term rendered as Istrouma, possibly a corruption of the Choctaw iti humma ("red pole") Andre Joseph Penicaut, a carpenter traveling with d'Iberville, published the first full-length account of the expedition in 1723. According to Penicaut,
"From there [Manchacq] we went five leagues higher and found very high banks called ecorts in that region, and in savage called Istrouma which means red stick [baton rouge], as at this place there is a post painted red that the savages have sunk there to mark the land line between the two nations, namely: the land of the Bayagoulas which they were leaving and the land of another nationâthirty leagues upstream from the baton rouge named the Oumas."

At this time, I have no idea if the event will be in the large arena or the theater.
It’s 3000, but 5000 if you had the floor space.
This Thread is by invitation only. Can I see your invite? I don’t remember seeing your RSVP. :-)
Looks like they have pulled it from the sidebar.
Enjoying your trivia today. After coffee I might just play!

I saw the focus group also. I have been saying that the crass language does not play well in the South. It keeps a lot of people who like his ideas and want to support him from supporting him. They do not like a President behaving that way in public.
I support Trump and while his crassness bothers me it is not a defining issue. For others it is one of several things they weigh before supporting anyone. Also, I believe more in that focus group plan to vote for Trump than admitted it today. Halperen asked the question just after showing the swearing. They people there, all religious conservatives, did not want to let their friends see them in public supporting that language.
That’s great! I’m surprised that Nicole (she who tried to destroy Palin) admitted it.
On Fox & Friends this a.m. Steve said that they put in daily calls to Cruz, Sanders, Clinton and 1 or 2 others to come on the show and all of them don’t respond or decline. So, I don’t think any of these folks should gripe about all the media attention Trump is getting. Just the ones I saw/heard yesterday, he called into Fox and Friends and Morning Joe, was on with BOR, and Steve showed an exclusive video he did with Trump and family before Trump went on stage for his victory speech.
Since we discuss anything and everything in the run up to Trump’s rally, I’d like to ask if anyone has ever seen an ORANGE Cardinal. There has been one at my feeder for the past few days. I’ve been around for many years and this is the first time I’ve seen one. Beautiful...but weird for sure.
Have I missed a poll that came out today? I have only seen the ones from January, I have been anxiously awaiting polls after the NH primary. A have a couple of my children living in SC. One of them is helping with phone banks after work. It seems they have done well the last two nights.
Although I don’t care for the language, I’m not going to hold it against him. Trump reminds me of my cousin, who gets teased by the family for his cussing. He’s also the Republican majority leader in his state’s legislature. His constituents love him and keep voting him in because he tells it like it is and he can’t be bought. When he first took office, his colleagues would pull him aside and tell him, “Dude, you can’t say it like that!” They’ve succeeded in polishing him up a bit but he still swears, but maybe more appropriately. But it’s just who he is. He’s tough, honest and a bit salty. And that’s just fine with me because it’s the first two that really count. If Trump is like my cousin, I’m okay with it.
I know, don’t we at least see rolling polls daily?
His salty language is what you expect in the construction field.
I have been around a bunch of women execs who make his language sound like a priest. Women generally have the worst language of the bunch in professional fields.
