If conservatism is your bag, if conservatism is the dominating factor in how you vote, there is no other choice for you in this campaign than Ted Cruz, because you are exactly right: This is the closest in our lifetimes we have ever been to Ronald Reagan.
***snip***
But for those of you that conservatism's the answer and conservatism is the way, you have no choice here. Ted Cruz has got to be your guy. There's nobody even close. Nobody.

Whoa, take a chill pill FRiend!
You don't even realize you're making my point, thanks.
Rush's opinion that Rubio is a conservative in spite of the gang of 8 crap is not an opinion I particularly share but it's his opinion.
I can't help it if you disagree but it is what it is.
I don't listen to Rush to validate my beliefs nor do I listen to him to figure out to vote for.
I listen to him (when I can) to hear his take on things. I may not agree 100% of the time but I value his insights and REASONING (something you seem to lack)
As for "pious and ill informed", might I suggest a mirror?
I might also suggest instead of leaping to full "knee jerk" position, you approach some one you think is wrong in a more polite, lady like fashion.
As we enter the next round of electing a President, it is my deepest hope that we all able to discuss candidates in a respectful and healthy manner.
Res ipsa loquitur
Free Trade is a major tenet of conservatism. Cruz changed his position after back room dealing by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Democrats â namely over an issue dealing with the Export-Import Bank. The bill was changed to not allow Ex-Im Bank to expire. Reading it and keeping up with revisions are different things. Cruz (or at least his friend Sessions) managed to keep an eye on the bill revisions and back room dealings.

Now once again you and several other Trumpetts keep repeating the lie that Cruz supported TPA/TPP when anyone can check the congressional final vote.

LOL In a word - bunk. The USA was founded on protectionism and rose to preeminence industrially because of it. The primary reason for the Revolutionary War was because of British mercantilism towards the colonies. I would consider our founding father way more conservative than anyone alive today.
If you’re against free trade, no need to worry, you can switch parties and vote for Bernie Sanders to find a candidate who shares your values.
So was George Washington a conservative?
If the U.S. wasn’t engaged in international trade, why did Jefferson go to war against the Barbary pirates? Seems like the modern Trumpians would have told Jefferson to stop any foreign trading, not go to war and just build a wall around the U.S. and stick your fingers in your ears and yell ‘lalalala’ in an effort to try and pretend the rest of the world doesn’t exist.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Barbary_War
The cause of the war was pirates from the Barbary States seizing American merchant ships and holding the crews for ransom, demanding the U.S. pay tribute to the Barbary rulers.
Cruz is a liar.
Who said the USA wasn’t involved in trade? I asked if IYO George Washington was a conservative? A simple question you seem to have a problem answering. What’s up with that?
We could go back to an agricultural economy too if you want to live in the past. Read up on this to see why we had to move to free trade. In short, if we raise tariffs, other countries will follow suit, and destroy our economy in the process, for no good reason whatsoever.
Protectionism sucks. It’s one of the many economically ignorant planks of the Bernie Sanders platform. Like all socialism, it will make our lives poorer and more painful.
http://articles.latimes.com/1996-03-10/opinion/op-45497_1_free-trade
The Smoot-Hawley Bill of 1932 was the last great protective tariff the United States ever passed—and it ended in disaster. When the United States raised its tariffs in the middle of the Depression, its major trading countries raised their tariffs, too. U.S. imports fell—but so did U.S. exports. More jobs were lost, and the Depression got worse.
When we raised our tariffs in 1932, the British cheated: They raised theirs back. The result was a trade war and an economic crisis in both countries.
For 50 years, America pursued a policy of opening markets. Europe and Japan got rich—but so did we. Increased exports created millions of jobs in the United States. And imports made our lives better too. Imports keep prices down by forcing companies to compete harder to produce quality goods at reasonable prices.
Free Enterprise in our own country is a major tenant of Conservatism. Free Trade with other countries regardless of whether they are an equal trading partner is a relatively new tenant that has crept into conservatism and needs to be excised. The GOP used to be known as the Grand Ol Protectionest party. And the founding fathers put in high import tariffs that served our country well for 180 years.
Milton Friedman should be dug up from the grave and shot for his role in destroying our economy.
And Cruz doesn’t need to be anywhere near the whitehouse until he develops a better understanding of economics.
The problem is the word conservative is almost meaningless when Robot Rubio of the Gang of 8 and Jeb the Mexican are pushed as conservatives. I would rather have a moderate who will protect our borders, expel illegals, and challenge PC than a conservative who is okay with the invasion.
At the rate we are de industrializing we may be an agro service economy before to long. I want to stop that, you don't.
The Smoot-Hawley lie you throw around has been debunked.
U.S. goods imports declined from $5.3 billion in 1929 to just $1.7 billion in 1933, while U.S. goods exports fell from $4.4 billion in 1929 to a mere $1.5 billion in 1933.
If these drops were so great and so influential, why doesn't Milton Friedman mention them? First, in comparison to the total economy ($50B GNP), foreign trade was a small part of the United States economy. Second, the total balance of trade deficit went from (0.9 billion to 0.2 billion). In other words, the United States was losing less money because of Smoot-Hawley. It was in aggregate better off.
A simple question.
Obviously not, the Tories were.
There is no God but Conservatism, and Ted Cruz is it’s prophet.
Where have I heard something like that before?
Ok, So In your opinion George Washington was not a conservative. I would have to say you are full of Barbara Streisand. The founding fathers of our country were devoutly religious conservative men all of them believed in trade protectionism. Your opinion is well, laughable.
LOL In a word - bunk. The USA was founded on protectionism and rose to preeminence industrially because of it. The primary reason for the Revolutionary War was because of British mercantilism towards the colonies. I would consider our founding father way more conservative than anyone alive today.
Absolutely.
