Physician: Lifting DDT Ban Could Stop Mosquito-Borne Zika Virus

The executive director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) asserts that a lifting of the ban on DDT could prevent the spread of the Zika virus, just as it could have wiped out malaria.

Dr. Jane Orient tells Breitbart News the major public health measure required to combat the Zika virus pandemic is mosquito control and says, "DDT was the most effective public health weapon of all time."

Orient continues:

The ban on DDT was basically the decision of one man, William Ruckelshaus, going against a mountain of evidence on safety and enormous health benefits. It was said that, "If they can ban DDT, they can ban anything." And that's how the EPA power grab started. Millions of African babies have died and are still dying of malaria because if it.

“IOverhead that the African nations eventually quit using DDT because the mosquitoes developed a resistance to it and it was no longer effective.”

Possibly, I’ve never heard of anything becoming resistant to DDT but there’s a lot of things I’ve never heard about. I’ve heard it had more to do with the book “Silent Spring” and that was an excuse to ban it.

The most effective use of DDT (or any pesticide) is NOT to spray it in the air. DDT was sprayed on ceilings, especially bedrooms where the skeetes hung, waiting for people to lie still and asleep. At one time the UN had Malaria deaths worldwide diwn to a few thousand. Then comes Rachel Carson, convincing liberals that our last songbird will soon die.

Within three years we are back to 2 million deaths a year. Whatever her intentions, yes, I class Carson as a mass murderer. Nets and such are just great where they can be afforded. The most cost effective preventative is insecticide spraying in dwellings.

My barn swallows are voracious wasp hunters! I keep one can of wasp spray for those hard to reach places but every year we welcome those swallows back and they are welcome to build their nests where they see fit. We have to keep the front porch clean but it beats buying poison.

rachael carson and marge sanger are responsible for so many dead children (and adults) that it boggles the mind...yet they are held up as icons by the left...why is this?

We live amidst the most evil people I can imagine.

It never was banned, some world conference banned it somewhat but still allowed for its use for malaria prevention.

Nature’s fighter planes. The wasps should start popping out in another couple of weeks and the swallows will show up by the end of March.

I also don’t kill my barn spiders anymore either and save on fly spray. The only time I kill one is if I catch it on me.

There are people today who used to run around in the fog of the DDT trucks, they had kids, and those kids had kids. Where are the birth defects?
*********************************
You just described me. In the ‘40s, all of us kids would run behind the fogger trucks that came through our neighborhood every two or three weeks. No a/c in houses those days so people would sit in the shady spots in their yards during the hot Summers. All of our parents sat through the fogging.

I thought it had been banned everywhere and that it was no longer used in Africa for malaria prevention. Is it allowed everywhere?

It’s not allowed here and in other countries that signed off on banning it. I don’t know if they use it at all anymore in Africa but as far as I know it hasn’t been banned there, it wasn’t at the time that it was here.

“rachael carson would turn over in her grave if DDT was brought back.”

Rachel Carson, I choose to believe, is barking in Hell for what she did.

Millions and millions of deaths, caused by greentard hysteria.

All those tards—the green, the lib, the left—owe humanity trillions of dollars in addition to that which cannot be quantified: the lives, the misery, the degraded standards of living.

It would be morally just to sentence them all to hard labor for life, with the proceeds of their labor going back to those who were harmed.

Some of them, like the ones who forced the prohibition of CFCs, deserve much worse.

“What could be worse than burning because the “bozone” layer has vanished”

Is that the bozone layer that has a hole which naturally expands and contracts on its own schedule, and which the bozos idiotically thought was being damaged by CFCs because they started looking at the hole during its expansion phase, and to protect which the bozos cost humanity trillions of dollars and who knows how many lives? That bozone layer?

What could be worse? How about making them live through eight years of the Trump administration, during which they witness the complete cleanup of everything they’ve done to harm America.
