Shortly after Barack Obama swept into the White House while giving Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid a coattail Marxist Congress, Newsweek Magazine ran the cover "We're all Socialists now,"...
...it took until last night before it was literally true, as New Hampshire gave a full-throated socialist a rout over semi-socialist Hillary Clinton on the Democrat side and the once and now apparently again socialist Donald Trump won...
...In case you missed the final score, it was Bernie by about 18 over Hillary and Trump by about 18 over John Kasich. Yes, John Kasich. ...
...Trump has flirted with socialist talking points and ideas for decades, including...
..."Trump has promised to allow the government to negotiate drug prices â a common position among Democrats but rarely heard at nominally Republican events. He said he would not raise military spending, arguing that the nation's defenses can be improved without increasing its already huge Pentagon budget. He promised tough sanctions on American companies that move jobs overseas."
Think about that. He's full Bernie on the military, and instead of rolling back our liberal government to entice companies to stay onshore or move onshore, Trump wants to sic the IRS on companies...
..."Trump was, in other words, in full populist mode as he wrapped up his New Hampshire campaign." York understates. He was in full Bernie Socialist mode. Meanwhile, daughter Ivanka Trump yesterday insisted that "from day one, my father has set the agenda for both parties."
Indeed he has. It sounds a lot like Bernie's socialist agenda. And he and Bernie both won. Beam me up, Scotty...

“Socialists use walls to keep their citizens in, you realize?”
Confusion says: “Wall have two sides”
Yeah, but remember - part of what makes the kook element think Trump is a “socialist” is the fact that he wants border security.
____________________________________________________________
Nonsense it is his calls for the government to provide healthcare for all, expanding drug benefits. He is a crony capitalist who believes in government seizing property to benefit the rich.
His belief in central planning for ‘solutions’ to problems, it is in every speech, he is going to get the ‘smartest’ people in to solve problems. He thinks that the people in charge are failing because they are “dumb”. He misses the point the problem is faith in central planning and a top down approach to problem rather than looking to individual freedom and ‘solutions’ that derive from the marketplace of ideas.
Trump believes that only the ‘smart guys’ like him and his buddies can provide the ideas to solve problems. This is an approach used by socialist.
His flip flops and numerous liberal positions over the years makes me think his populism is a matter of convenience.
“Progressive” is a better term than “socialist” for the concept that a gov’t of experts can solve all the world’s problems. “We just need the right experts and for them to be unfettered with power.”
Yes, because we all know that capitalism-driven real estate billionaires are socialists. Wait, what?
“we may lose some Constitutional rights”
Words I never thought I’d see on Free Republic with the tone of such acquiescence.
My response to that:
“If you love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.” —Sam Adams
They chose DEATH
If you look at the Delegates, I believe Hillary won New Hampshire.
âProgressiveâ is a better term than âsocialistâ
Call her Charlotte if you want, she’s still a pig.
who do you think handles tariffs? The Benevolent society?
maybe respond to what Trump said, and not what I said. DId I overstate? Maybe. Did Trump sound exactly like the Bern? Damned right he did.
...and he threatened a heck of a lot more against Ford than just tariffs....FINES! Who do you think enforces fines?
Heil Hitler!!!!!!
Yes, because we all know that capitalism-driven real estate billionaires are socialists. Wait, what?

Your boy Trump is a crony capitalist not a capitalist. He admits it, he brags about buying pols so they do what he wants.
Perhaps that is what confuses you.
I for one am confounded that the Republican Party has slide into the political abyss together with the Democrats, and no one from either party’s preferred candidates have a chance in the primaries. To Trump’s credit he is saying the correct things to win, on real issues, especially about Jobs, Immigration, Global War on Jihad, Political Correctness, etc. The problem the two-party system has today, in America, is that it is no longer seen by the heartland as representative of the citizens; when you elect someone you expect them to represent you in Washington (not themselves or the cronyism on display with the President, his Executive Orders or his goals....).
I’m not confused at all, but thanks for your concern.
“My boy” is gonna be the next POTUS. Deal with it.
More to the point, how did Trump create his business empire? The answer is he farmed the government, he continued the practice of his father to involve himself with government projects, he took advantage of public guaranteed financing etc. In short, he exploited crony capitalism whenever and wherever he could. Of course, he also engaged in some projects in the private sector. But even there, he resorted to big government for success, by way of illustration, his exploitation of condemnation.
Does he create wealth or destroy wealth?
Both. He is destroyed a lot of wealth with his bankruptcies, with his failed enterprises such as Trump Airlines, his failed involvement with professional football, his university etc.
Are his business practices sound?
Obviously not and for the reasons expressed above. They are on balance very profitable for Donald Trump personally but they are hardly "sound" for his investors, creditors, or employees of his failed enterprises. Other enterprises embraced by the question must yield a negative answer because his ego led them into preposterous risks, such as the Taj Mahal.
How many jobs has Trump created vs. Sanders or any career politician?
Trick question, politicians don't create jobs, the private sector does. If a politician creates a job by spending, that money must be taken from the private sector where it would otherwise be more efficient in producing jobs. There is no reason to believe that Trump if he becomes an elected politician would be able to "create" jobs, his boasts to the contrary notwithstanding.
Do Trumps projects come in under budget and ahead of schedule
Again a mixed record. The Taj Mahal was way over budget. You cannot believe Trump's assertion of his own brilliance because time after time investigation into his projects prove that he exaggerated his success and lied about expenses etc.
There is every reason to believe that if Donald Trump becomes the chief executive officer of America he will run the country the way he ran Taj Mahal.
That's not what Bernie is saying.
You also know that I'm NOT calling Trump a full conservative.
But he's as far from Bernie as we are from the moon.
I ain’t followin’ Trump nowhere.
I’ve tried to point out that he was gun-controlling, pro-abortion, pro-amnesty, pro-imminent domain, pro-socialized medicine Democrat at least until a few years ago, but folks seem to get testy about it.
