~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida

Tyndall Air Force Base is a United States Air Force Base located 12 miles east of Panama City, Florida. The base was named in honor of World War I pilot 1st Lt Frank Benjamin Tyndall. The base operating unit and host wing is the 325th Fighter Wing (325 FW) of the Air Combat Command (ACC). The base is delineated as a census-designated place and had a resident population of 2,994 at the 2010 census.

The 325th Fighter Wing’s primary mission is to provide a combat ready air dominance force, train F-22A Raptor pilots and maintenance personnel, and train air battle managers to support the combat Air Force. Tyndall's combat mission is performed by the 95th Fighter Squadron. Training for F-22 pilots is performed in the 43d Fighter Squadron and the 2d Fighter Training Squadron. The 325th Air Control Squadron trains air battle managers for assignment to combat Air Force units.

Headquarters, First Air Force at Tyndall is part of the Air Combat Command (ACC), ensuring the air sovereignty and air defense of the continental United States. As the CONUS geographical component of the bi-national North American Aerospace Defense Command and air component of United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), 1 AF also provides airspace surveillance and control and directs all air sovereignty activities for the continental United States.

The 21st century proved to be momentous for Tyndall AFB. The base was selected as the first home of the Air Force's newest aircraft, the F-22 Raptor. 2002 brought more change as the Chief of Staff of the Air Force changed the organizational structure of the 325th Fighter Wing, from an objective type wing to a combat organization. This organization moved all maintenance activities under the 325th Maintenance Group and all support activities under the 325th Mission Support Group.

Thanks! :)

Guess I’ll go watch some TV on Couch Tuner.com.

I think you’ll probably sneak in the next one! :)

When we were young, everyone talked about looking forward to the Golden Years but they aren’t all that cracked up, are they? It’s got to be frustrating for your mom when simple things go so awry.

And we’re next.

Maybe the rest of the evening will go smoother so you can relax a little. That would be nice!

This time of night, I don’t know if we’ll get there while I’m still up. Plus, I do need to get a few things done around the house. Killing a few of these rambunctious kittehs is first on the list! LOL! The new moon has them wound up like $3 watches!
Nah, I’ll just break out the Vacuum Monster instead. That’ll make ‘em run and hide and things will get quiet around here. :-)

LOL! It’s true....getting old is not so much fun unless you are in excellent health.

On Wednesday she will be 91 years old. #1 on her list is to be with my Dad, and I can’t blame her a bit. She can’t/won’t use the computer anymore. Her macular degeneration precludes her from reading. I’ve tried for a couple years to get her to use talking books, but she resists. Maybe this weekend I’ll put a Dick Francis book on FOR her and I’ll change the CDs when needed.

Busy evening....some homework and my Mom spilled her whole water bottle on the bed.

Just got a sheet and two blankets out of the dryer. Thrown loosely over the bed. I’ll strip the bed Wednesday night. Too much Tuesday night homework in the offing, and I need to finish what I brought home tonight.

The damp places are where she doesn’t sleep.

Very true. And not many can say they’re in excellent health and able to enjoy getting on up in years. 91, eh? I didn’t realize she’d reached the 90s already.
From what you’ve said over the years, it’s obvious she and your dad were very close. Her wish is understandable. Seen it so many times over the years.

Well, one mission accomplished. Dry blankies! Just a good thing the water didn’t soak where she sleeps so you didn’t have to contend will ALL that stuff.

I should have thought to break out the vacuum earlier tonight. Just got through vacuuming one room and it worked like a charm. Hardly a cat in sight and it’s QUIET. LOL!

Aww...bless her heart! I’m glad you were there to fix things for her comfort!

All that homework! I sure hope they pay you for doing it!

If they don’t like the Vacuum Monster, it usually works quite well.

We used to have one cat who LOVED to be vacuumed and she’d get in the way until I did it. Weird cat! Sadly, she isn’t with us any more and I miss her. BUT, it does make vacuuming a little easier. LOL!

I’ve never had a cat OR a dog that liked the Vacuum Monster! LOL!

I don’t like it much either. It means WORK! And I’m allergic!

Yeah, buddy! It’s a winner. LOL!
Just glad Hubby’s awake so I could break it out for a few minutes. The kiddos have been VERY wound up tonight.

Still quiet and I hope it holds until I go to bed. Once that door is shut, the rest of the house is theirs.

They don’t, but I do it to maintain my sanity. My units are almost all security folks. They can work some hours at 5 different jobs and at 5 different pay rates. This way I get a head start and the chance of them getting paid correctly is better. The pay rates are different for different contracts and security positions cannot have time off. Someone has to cover every job every day. So people are shuffling every single day.

I've had very few cats that liked it. Guenwhyvar was the most recent but we lost her a couple of years ago to breast cancer. Here's a shot I snapped one day .......

Silly cat.

Good grief! No wonder doing payroll is such a chore for you each week! That has to be confusing at times.

Aww...what a silly but sweet kitty. She looks so content to have you do that! LOL!

Guess I’d better go to sleep now. I’m a Night Owl...not a Vampire! LOL!

Nighty-night! See ya manana!
