Reiterating his belief that homosexuality is 'not a sin,' the Republican governor of New Jersey signed a bill into law on Monday that bans the use of conversion or reparative therapy, or to otherwise help youth who are struggling with homosexual feelings to overcome their temptations.
Governor Chris Christie's office released a statement during the day outlining that Assembly Bill 3371 had been signed into law following its passage in both state houses in June.
Text of the bill notes that the law bans "the practice of seeking to change a person's sexual orientation, including, but not limited to, efforts to change behaviors, gender identity, or gender expressions, or to reduce or eliminate sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward a person of the same gender." However, the regulation does not apply to counseling that seeks to affirm homosexual emotions or behaviors.
"Governor Christie is no friend of free speech," said President Brad Dacus. "The question here isn't if sexuality comes from birth or not; the question is 'Should we allow the government to restrict religious and constitutional freedoms because a forceful LGBT lobby says we should?' The answer to that question is a resounding 'No!'"

I consider him the most dangerous liberal in the republican primary.
And whether or not you like Rubio — and I prefer our candidate NOT be Rubio — he WAS a solid pro-life voice on that stage the other night.
Christie, on the other hand, is a creepy slithery shrouded kind of guy.
I detest him.
They have had a law like this for three years in California. It’s an abomination...this law like the one in California says no licensed therapist can talk to kids and teens about their sexual feelings. I don’t know what the percentages are but a lot of gender confusion comes from youngsters who were molested as children. The idea that a counselor or parent should not be involved in shaping the thoughts of their own children is not only anti- biblical it will lead to sexual anarchy.

The Governor is entitled to his opinions. What’s damning is that he was forbidding others to have a different view, by law. That’s not good.
Bottom line: doesn’t know the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
I agree. They would have to deal with relentless media attacks.
The media is saving this for the general election. Then it and abortion will come front and center.
Anti-religious sentiment I'd say, wouldn't you?
When our Republic was founded, homosexuality was a capital offense in most states.
Until forty years ago the psychiatric community classified homosexuality as a mental illness.
Several thousand years ago, God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for embracing homosexuality.
Until a couple decades ago, ALL Christian denominations (with the possible exception of a couple fringe groups) denounced homosexuality as a sin.
But now, politicians think they know better than God, religion and science.
(I don't see Carson going deep into March. Bush will probably stick around but likely keep polling under 10 pct. The others should bow out by about March 2.)
Rubio says a lot. What has he done? What will he do?
To me, it’s not whether he or Christie are pro life or Christian in this situation as much as what kind of regard does Christie show for authority like the constitution, and this provides a good insight into what he would consider his authority. His own opinion
Rubios authority would be whimsical and not the constitution. I doubt he would be pro life in situations where his whims would disagree
I don't think would be constitutional if they tried to apply it to Christian counseling by a Pastor or other mature Christian given to a consenting Christian in a not for pay scenario - just Christian counseling. Seems to me it would violate the free speech, free exercise and possibly the establishment clauses of the first amendment.
so much for what bit of momentum he had...tossing young impressionable kids to the gay grey wolves, with no one to call for help
I believe so, too, but they did go after the little sisters of the poor. If they’ll go after someone with a name like that, then they’ll go after anyone.
Psychologists shouldn't practice psychology WITH a license. Those hand-wringing bedwetters are the deviants that voted with the APA to say homosexuality wasn't a mental disorder. They did that because most of them have the affliction and don't want to deal with the mental angst facing the disorder results in.
Nothing. He’s a liberal. Christians and conservatives should never vote for liberals. When they do, they discredit themselves.
First he gives Obama a big hug and now........
was never going to get my vote anyway as I knew he is on the homosexual train.
This will probably put him over the top on Super Tuesday when much of the the Bible Belt votes. I vote a week later in Mississippi, I wonder how many delegates he’ll get here?
He also said on Saturday that a woman should be able to kill her baby if conceived by rape. Of course he used the euphemism “terminate her pregnancy”, but said it with a conviction and passion that was downright creepy.
He is a slithery guy....a python that has swallowed Bambi.
I can imagine Mississippi turning out in droves to support a homosexual obsessed candidate. But, then again, Mississippi has always struck me as the heart of liberalism in the South.
