Obama Visits Mosque: ‘Islam Has Always Been Part of America’

President Obama spoke warmly about Islam during his speech at a mosque today, highlighting the contributions that Muslims had made to the fabric of American society.

“Islam has always been part of America,” he said, detailing the beginnings of the religion among African slaves brought to America. He also pointed out that Thomas Jefferson included the “Mohammedan” as one of the religions that should be protected.

Riiight! Why, just look at all those Muslim names on the Declaration of Independence. Look at all of those Muslim military leaders in the American Revolution.

He is right actually.

The Barbary Pirates did inspire us to form the Marines.

And when our crusaders fought back against conquering Islamics, they did learn about all the wonderful new things muslims discovered while they plundered advanced civilizations.

So yes, muslims did impact us from the begining. Almost entirely through violence.
