On the same day he won the Republican Iowa caucus, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas got a favorable decision from the Illinois Board of Elections, which ruled that he met the citizenship criteria to appear on the state's primary ballot.
Two objectors, Lawrence Joyce and William Graham, had challenged Cruz's presidential bid with the board, contending that his name should not appear on the March 15 ballot because his candidacy did not comply with Article II of the Constitution.
In response to the filings, Cruz's lawyers relied on Supreme Court precedent, legal history and articles from noted constitutional scholars to defend the view that he is in fact "natural born" within the meaning in the Constitution.

“Upon birth America made him a Citizen and Canada did as well.”
But it didn’t make him a natural born citizen of the US. That takes two citizen parents on US soil.
“My Constitution has not had the wording changed to reference that some act of Congress or some court changed the meaning of ‘natural born’.”
The framers didn’t “change” the meaning of “natural born”, because they never defined it.
That’s why Congress has the power to determine who was “natural born” and who wasn’t.
The Congress acted to define “natural born”, and it is established by statute.
End of story...
That lawyer is either intentionally misreading a statute or doesn’t know how to read it. You don’t need to reside in the us within 5 years of birth which is why i asked her where she got her info when she wrote that claim
Oh I am NOT a preacher either.
That’s right citizen at birth and natural born citizen are not the same. Otherwise any child born here to foreign parents is NBC, any child born anywhere in the world to an American citizen is a NBC. A Natural Born citizen is a citizen born of citizen parents on American soil or to diplomats or military personnel outside of America on America’s business.
“A highly intelligent man who has the skill set to start solving the nations problems. He has a track record very admirable and he is NOT a politician.”
He may be, but he’s still a RINO. You do know about his previously publicly stated positions, right?
BTW, when I saw your reply, I thought you were talking about Cruz. You do know he was a clerk who researched and wrote opinions for Supreme Court Justice Rehnquist, right?
Absolutely, being a licensed liar and dissembler of the Constitution. Keeps them in business.... They do have such a worthy reputation.
Are you a constitutional attorney?
Didnât think so.
Iâd like to hear from somebody who is.

Raphael is..and even he is all over the place. “Born of the soil, two citizen parents” is one of his versions. “Born in Canada, mom a citizen” is another, are but two of his versions. If he is legit, (why are his birth records, with the exception of hi Canadian BC) sealed?
He’s hiding something..for a reason.
Or is your argument that "no passport, no citizenship?" If so, there are a couple hundred million people in the US who aren't US citizens - no US passport.
You’ll have to show me where that is stated in either the constitution or settled law. In the meantime, I’ll stick with a rational interpretation.
Surprise, surprise. And right in Obama’s backyard. We can’t let the citizenship of a first term Senator, Harvard constitutional lawyer with only a single American parent, a dual citizenship whose records are sealed impact that of another first term Senator, Harvard constitutional lawyer with only a single American parent, a dual citizenship whose records are sealed can we?
Got a cite for that proposition?
I think she’s also filed a complaint in South Carolina. I haven’t found anything about it though, or looked at their deadlines.
Explain please.
She's not on the ballot in SC so I don't see how she would have standing.
Cruz could have obtained a Canadian passport at any time up until Canada recognized his renunciation of Canadian citizenship.

its not my argument its whats in the law.
Diamond won’t even tell the truth about that immigration statute. Waiting for her to admit she was wrong about The 5 year requirement needing to be right before birth.
