Cruz could have obtained a Canadian passport at any time up until Canada recognized his renunciation of Canadian citizenship.

Or is your argument that “no passport, no citizenship?” If so, there are a couple hundred million people in the US who aren’t US citizens - no US passport.

What's in the law? You stated that Cruz didn't have a passport from Canada. That's not sometinng "in the law," it's a fact you asserted, and the fact is independent of any reference to law.
