If King says it’s true, then there’s absolutely no reason for him to implicate himself. But he did. That means that it was done. It is a dirty trick, and it’s a contradiction to the claims by the leader of the campaign that he is running as a Christian. Have that shown that Cruz knew?
What will be the effect? I don’t think any. This will have dropped out of the news before New Hampshire is over, and Cruz isn’t expected to do well in NY, anyway.
So, he’ll ride it out until it is buried by other events.
This is one more piece of the puzzle by people thinking about supporting Cruz. It probably wouldn’t be very damaging except that Cruz is running as the “pure” candidate both as a Christian and a conservative. This is seen as kind of a joke by people who actually have known Cruz for a while, but it could very well have an impact on those supporting candidates like Carson who probably will not be around much longer.

That had nothing to do with CNN. That was all Cruz and his campaign. Stop making excuses for him using Cochran tactics. There is no excuse for it.
I frankly don’t trust any of them. It matters who counts the votes, right?
I think we’re going through the motions fooling ourselves thinking voting even matters anymore.
Yes, it will go away, but other candidates are now aware that Cruz’s campaign stretches the truth (or spreads lies) to win. They should adjust their own campaigns as needed.
Cruz and Trump should decide to cool it on the civil war to take out Rubio. Rubio could very well be the candidate if those two keep going at it.
We don’t know what CNN told the Cruz campaign. We do know that CNN plays crooked. And if Carson told CNN he would go to a prayer breakfast but would not campaign in SC or NC, is it impossible that he told CNN he’d be announcing his dropping out of the race next week? Is it impossible that CNN went to Cruz’s people to get a reaction to the news that Carson wasn’t going to be campaigning next week, and they told Cruz’s people that?
What I’m saying is that we don’t know who did what, and until we know that it’s best not to jump to conclusions. Jumping to conclusions serves ONLY the purposes that crap like this is trying to accomplish.
What started all of this was Carson saying he was headed to home in FL after Iowa.
Who doesn’t do that when they get a chance?
Opportunists will jump on anything.
Cruz should not have let this happen, and it may be why Cruz was first.

True, true. But it doesn’t mean that it was a “dirty trick” to repeat something that was being reported by a network. If CNN were so awful, Donald would not have had them covering his veterans fundraiser.

That war will be huge again in South Carolina between Cruz and Trump. In Florida between Rubio and Trump.
I expect a lot of dropouts after NH to consolidate numbers to Rubio, and I think the hardest to get to go along will be the prince in waiting, Jeb. It is his crown after all.
Kasich has invested a lot in NH. He’s making a case for VP, I think.
The Cruz campaign and Rep. King believed the CNN breaking news report that Carson was acting like he was going to suspend his campaign. Of course they let Carson supporters know this and lobbied for their votes. This was not a dirty trick just a response to a breaking news story brought on by Carson’s bizarre behavior in abandoning his supporters and going home on the night of the caucus.

And I’m sorry, but how is it jumping to conclusions to quote a Cruz Campaign Spokesperson? Or to see the email they sent with my own eyes? They didn’t deny it, just like they didn’t deny the mailer.
A lot of people are trying to justify his (Cruz) behavior when he is not. He said he was not sorry and did not deny the mailer, meanwhile some people on here are trying to blame, Trump, Rubio, etc. Now you and others are trying to justify this, blame CNN, but his campaign is not denying it, in fact, her comment was snarky and condescending, much like many others in the GOP.
Could be.
I blame Carson's supporters a bit, too. They have cell phones. Look it up on the internet.

Yes, it will....but it shouldn’t be. If they focus their attention on Rubio and take him out, they’d be better off. They can go at it again after Rubio is mimimized.
I do think this is as girlene says, though: “the other campaigns are now on notice that the Cruz campaign lies and uses dirty tricks.”
This is just another piece of possible evidence in that file folder.
We need to know what Carson told CNN.
