A search shows that nobody's opened up a live thread for tonight's caucuses. So here goes.
Predictions? For both the GOP and Dem nominations?
Eyewitness Accounts? See any funny business going on?
Santorum just gave speech. Ending his bid. He said something about Trump. Anyone catch it?
Right. Just like the shaming letter was going to ruin his chances in Iowa.
I think our biggest obstacle to defeat the establishment is that everyone turns to mainstream media in the end. Towards the actual vote curiosity wins out and we’re inundated with their Alinsky tactics.
1) Iowans are so dang nice. I am originally from California, and I am always impressed with the way Iowans behave. Despite all the negative campaigning there was NO harsh words at all from anyone toward each other. In addition it started 45 minutes late and we calmly sat and waited.
2) We are also very sophisticated when it comes to evaluating candidates. Those mailers Cruz sent out did not matter. We see those all the time. I know there was hyperventilating but they don't matter.
3) I talked to a few ex-Trump supporters and they ultimately were turned off with his lets say brashness. I really think he may not wear well.
4) Rubio and Cruz supporters in general would support each others candidates. Not my feeling but this is what I have heard.
5) People really respected Carly and Ben Carson. Just not for the presidency.
6) OK I am totally on board for Ted. But his speech was unbelievable. He would do so well in a general.
7) Ground games matter. Cruz really nailed the ground game. And his negative ads on Rubio helped.
Anyway those are my thoughts.
David
Is that better?
Get over that birther stuff. It’s total BS!
Dont put that much stock in Iowa. Rubio doesnt have wide spread support. If he were the Gop nominee the country would be better off with Hillary.
I would vote for Cruz. But there is a grand strategy on the part of the GOPe that the Cruzers aren’t seeing out of their hatred for Trump, and as of tonight their strategy is playing out perfectly.
I wondered too
It might be because of the number of precincts they won and not the number of voters
someone earlier on the radio said that the Ds do it different
Even as liberal as Romney is — this nation would be in a lot better shape had he been elected in 2012.
They get the same amount of delegates. The commie curmudgeon who never earned a steady paycheck until he was 40 and elected to office fought the Clinton’s to a standstill in Iowa. That is amazing.
Amen. Lord give our fellow servant of Jesus Christ, Ted Cruz, his campaign and the voters: wisdom, humility and perseverance in the weeks ahead.
Two Corinthians 4:5
For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
Give us the numbers!!!
Which is why you haven't picked a winner in 16 years.
Christy looking to do well in NH but Rubio’s going to do his thing now with the establishment circling the wagons with him.
Cruz would like to win NH but he focused in the South rather then on NH. Iowa was his baby to win...and he did so.
That is the news.
Watch him and mark him.
Love him or hate him, a loss by Trump means FNC can gloat about their “smart” journalist who beat him. Muslims have their dream come true and prove hes a bigot. Hollywood gets to dance on his grave.
If nothing else having him give the finger to these groups was priceless.
It is my understanding the every amendment Ted offered was voted down. I know many also think what you have said, but I haven't seen anyone provide a link to the specific amendment that he proposed that was adopted.
I think a lot of Cruz supporters are misinformed about this and I'd welcome anyone who can link to a Senate source that shows what he supposedly added.
