We made it out to Olney today. Main roads were great after a week of cleanout. The State instead of just plowing, is putting the snow in dump trucks and hauling it away. That is one reason Snowmagedden 2010 seemed worst that this snow fall.
Also this snow fall was a light, dry snow that compacted to smaller mounds.
But, Lurker Jim's road was so bad early on 2 snow plows got stuck. The COUNTY cleared a single path with a front end loader.
About half of the snow is gone after some warm weather. The owner of the shopping center used a bobcat to clear the sidewalk up to the corner. On our left flank the sidewalk has 5 foot of plowed snow.
In attendance were Fraxinus, Lurker Bill, Lurker Jim and myself. Lurker Jim took the pictures.
Temp was in the low 30s, no wind, and a lot of sun. Perfect day for a FReep
Sorry to hear that...
” .. never saw snow”
That’s because we want you to come back. What’s the temps where you are?
2010 was actually two consecutive snow falls. Together, in parts of Monkey County, it beat this snow fall. Until t6his snow fall one of the 2010 snow falls was #5 with 17.8 inches
It’s been worst, in Olney and at Walter Reed. At Walter Reed there was no sun to warm one up.
It has been a hectic several years. Hopefully I will post more often.
Actually, the BWI report was some 18.8”. However, our own backyard - yes, a big, open flat area - measured 33” for that Feb 6 storm. Yup, just 10 mi from BWI. It was gigantic, never mind the biggest winter on record.
45 inches was then, 28 was now...but actually melted to about 8 iuches as of this evening.
I don’t let anything get low from November to April. Buy those big packs of TP when they are on sale for reserves and still buy the usual amount week by week.
cool and rainy week...but now up to 76 and low about 60 again.
My heart bleeds for you — NOT
Take care
