Cruz Defends 'Voting Violation' Mailer

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is defending a campaign mailer that Iowa's secretary of state says misrepresents election law.

The mailer bills itself as a "voting violation" notice and tells the recipient it's been sent due to "low expected voter turnout in your area." It then grades the recipient's voting history and that of several neighbors, citing public records.

Cruz told reporters in Sioux City, Iowa, on Saturday that the mailing is "routine."

He says he won't apologize

It is chicken-sh*t BS, no matter how you spin it. And the *other campaigns* are DEMOCRATS.

"Today I was shown a piece of literature from the Cruz for President campaign that misrepresents the role of my office, and worse, misrepresents Iowa election law," Paul Pate, a Republican, said in a statement Saturday.

Pate continued, "Additionally, the Iowa Secretary of State's Office never 'grades' voters. Nor does the Secretary of State maintain records related to Iowa Caucus participation," Pate said. "Also, the Iowa Secretary of State does not 'distribute' voter records. They are available for purchase for political purposes only, under Iowa Code."

Just tossing it around....I like to ponder....it gives me a 50-50 edge on the outcome.

I recommend Iowans offended by a piece of paper get a life, look at the real accomplishments of the candidates and remember that this is mild compared to political slime from years gone past.

In my eyes, it's another misstep by Cruz, like when he got onstage with Glenn Beck and took the Presidential oath.

It's not horrible but it's certainly not a smart move...

He mined the rolls....and told them that they were bad....and told the neighbors that they were bad, too.

Of course, it's wrong.

and you can bet the competition will trumpet it far and wide.

This went viral on Twitter and FR Friday night into Saturday morning. I don't think his competition is going to mention it, as Twitter and the news cycles are harping on it pretty good already. Well at least not until after Iowa and depending on how that turns out.

Post 139 says they have a method to predict who would vote for Cruz if they would just go vote. So maybe it wasn’t sent to all, but it was targeted somehow. Don’t ask me how they would be able to predict that based on simple voting frequency and not actually who you voted for in the past.

If he apologizes it would be very hard for him to justify doing this again.

I’m very disappointed in Cruz. Thought he was much more than he’s turning out to be.

Yes, he did. Just like Ernst did when she ran for Senator in Iowa and won. Just like the Dems do...just like your electric company does.

It’s a common practice.

Nonetheless, the data used to process those results and grading was public information. Okay, it was a d!ck tactic. What else are you going to do? From what I’ve been able to determine, Kroger, Amazon, Home Depot and a whole bunch of sites track what you buy and sell that information to others. They just got the information from public records.

It isn’t what I’d have recommended, by you probably weren’t going to vote for him anyway. Regardless, don’t vote for him then.

I’m voting for Trump in my primary and if Cruz gets the nomination, I’ll vote for him.

We have TWO people here who are what I’d call turks against the establishment. We have a SLEW of other RINOs on the slate and a couple of snakes, too. It makes no sense to undercut the two possibles and ignore the rest.

To me, there are other things to worry about.

This will be remembered as the day the Cruz candidacy died.

Not so fast: Ted is planning on scoring a hat trick Monday night.

You know, Donald never sends me letters like that begging for money. In fact here is one.

Dear Datricker,

With just 5 short days before the Iowa Caucus, Mr. Trump will be holding a special event tomorrow night to benefit Veteran Organizations at Drake University - Sheslow Auditorium and we want you to be there! The address of the venue is 2507 Carpenter Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50311. The doors will open at 5:00 p.m. and the event will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Register for tickets at TrumpDrakeU.Eventbrite.com.

Please arrive early and limit personal items to expedite entrance into the auditorium.

We hope that you will be able to attend this special rally in honor of our veterans. See you tomorrow!

Sincerely,

Team Trump

Notice the difference between Teds whining and Trumps confidence. Trump also sent me a Christmas card - which was thoughtful.

Is Trump perfect no but he is willing to be our candidate and he has stepped in an taken up our conservative positions by and large. Further and more importantly he has taken up the America First position.

Evangelicals know Trump isn't one of them but he treats them with respect talks honestly about his past. He is a lot more honest about his changes in positions and how he discusses them then most of the others (save Dr. Carson).

Trump doesn't treat us like children and he doesn't let himself get pushed around by the progressive liberals and the media.

Trumps not running to make America conservative he is running to make it great again he is actually a uniter but he is not going around saying it he is doing while attacking the enemies of this wonderful nation.

By attacking political correctness Trump has gotten to the very heart of the matter - the self imposed shackles of false guilt meant to destroy our confidence and our greatness.

Only talking honestly can we solve the challenges that face us - PC isn't about solutions its about mind control.

Trump is shattering the boob tube mesmerization the pimps of punditry have had over the American people. Our eyes are open and we see the media collaborators liberal and conservative a like. Trump is a gianormous flashlight exposing the the pseudo-cons on the right

Trump is awesome - Ted Cruz is small shrill desperate and phony politician.

Thats another thing, it almost physically hurts Trump to call himself a politician - I like that. Politicians are huge D-bags.

Cruz is so obviously desperate. To not only do this mailing and defend it as “routine” - pathetic.

Even if it were routine, I thought this guy shunned politics as usual and was going to break up the intrusive Big Brother tactics of the Washington Cartel? Yet another example of the fraud this guy is - says one thing to conservatives, does another when he feels it necessary for his survival.

The more you look at Cruz the worse he becomes.

I am facing the facts about the so called notice myself, and; this move by Cruz reminds me of Obama/Big Gov/Gov knows all etc. Hell it implies Gov is watching and we know about you and will tell your neighbors. I am pissed Cruz pulled this. I think about some poor older lady who depends on her neighbors for help. My wife said she would be uncomfortable with that notice if she lived alone.
