Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is defending a campaign mailer that Iowa's secretary of state says misrepresents election law.
The mailer bills itself as a "voting violation" notice and tells the recipient it's been sent due to "low expected voter turnout in your area." It then grades the recipient's voting history and that of several neighbors, citing public records.
Cruz told reporters in Sioux City, Iowa, on Saturday that the mailing is "routine."
He says he won't apologize

Actually, I said Cruz was nasty a few days before Trump said it. I remember the post distinctly as it was in response to some nasty Cruz supporters on a thread here. I wondered out loud, could it be that Cruz is as nasty as his supporters? A few days later Trump said Cruz was nasty. That’s miss Janet if your nasty. Lol. Go Trump!
Cruz is proving to be a serial liar in addition to being a traditional politician, and not a very good one at that. He’d better start worrying about keeping his Senate seat in an increasingly purple Texas because he’s sure as hell not ready for anything bigger.
Based on your opinion Cruz intentionally sought to scare folks from going to the poll and voting.
Thank you for your Postal Service.
Beware of the demise of “Junk (Spam) Mail”.
Without it the U.S. Post Offices would be hollow shells collecting dust.
Way to go, misogynist. Glad to see there’s another group you think its fine to slur en masse.
I like Ted’s strategic positions.
I’m not so fond of these tactical decisions.
(Why is Ted Cruz begging his supporters for money when Ted Cruz campaign: $19 million cash on hand )
For when the flyers don’t work, the campaign can follow up with some door to door “convincing”....
Nice photo. I can tell it took a long time to put it together. A Japanese proverb seems appropriate at his moment: The difference between genius and crazy is paper thin. |
It’s just a thought....
You are the one who is off topic.
Good one.
True.
The difference between genius and stupidity is genius has its limits. Einstein came up with that one.
That Einstein!! Gotta love'm.
‘Cruz is proving to be a serial liar’
He really is. Not since Obama have fans been willing to believe anything their guy says, no matter how unlikely.
He had no idea he was a Canadian citizen. But he’s scary smart.
He liquidated all his assets. And forgot loans of ~a million dollars.
His family lost their health coverage, and the guy who wants to be in charge of the country wasn’t responsible enough to get a new policy. Except, of course, that his family was never without health insurance.
He tweeted that he supports “legalization” following border “security”...but he’s never supported amnesty.
He claimed Trump got rich off eminent domain. A shameless whopper.
He said only a Constitutional amendment could eliminate our OBLIGATION to reward the babies of foreign invaders with citizenship. Except that after Trump said otherwise, Cruz sang a different tune. Trump’s tune.
I haven’t scratched the surface. But yes, your point is a good one.
Grania said it isn’t about Trump. I think s/he’s right. Cruz did this. Trump has nothing to do with it.
That’s just it. Cruz doesn’t have ‘’random’’ errors of judgement. It’s a pretty consistent pattern. Lying by omission about multiple things concerning himself, H1Bs, TPA/ TPP, (at least defacto) amnesty for illegals, parsing the 14th Amendment re birthright citizenship (agenda here?), Corker. . . there’s at least one other major thing that I’ve forgotten.
He does these things that are *obviously* contrary to the interests of the American people & the health of the country- then he comes up with these bizarre ‘’explanations’’/ rationalizations to try & get out of the controversy he has created. Or he stonewalls.
What maladroit actions will his administration undertake when he is President? Will he clear out the top of the government and put good people in charge - people he can trust not to embarrass him with the people’s power and trust? Does he have no one he can listen to who can tell him how stupid this is and what the ramifications will be.
That’s a goood question & a valid concern. Both wrt to maladroit actions and putting good people in charge. Who are his associates & allies NOW? Mike Lee, Jeff Sessions, & Sarah Palin have moved away.
The second part of your second sentence is double-edged; first on it’s face, but also in the context of CYA. After 0bama, sometimes Dubya, & certainly Clinton, people who are ‘’good’’ & ‘’trusted’’ can also mean that they will be an impermeable front regardless of what’s actually going on for good or ill.
WILL Cruz listen to advice? Not if he’s to be believed concerning the situation with McConnell ‘’lying’’ to him. Allegedly, his staffers ‘’tried to tell him’’ & he went ahead anyway.
A group of campaign staffers allegedly quit almost/ or the day before this mailer went out. Was the mailer WHY they quit? I doubt we’ll ever know. Anyway, there was some type of conflict for a group to quit like that.
This gels with the things his classmates in college said regarding his personality. People usually do grow & change as they get older, but if the shoe fits, you have to wonder.
LOL! I love it!

Won't change a thing--if Trump is to win, he would have anyway. The same with Cruz...
Fox and Friends let him blow it off this morning. Showed a clip of Cruz saying all candidates do what it takes to win and he would apologize for nothing. Steve Doucey thought that was real funny.
