Today I was shown a piece of literature from the Cruz for President campaign that misrepresents the role of my office, and worse, misrepresents Iowa election law. Accusing citizens of Iowa of a "voting violation" based on Iowa Caucus participation, or lack thereof, is false representation of an official act. There is no such thing as an election violation related to frequency of voting. Any insinuation or statement to the contrary is wrong and I believe it is not in keeping in the spirit of the Iowa Caucuses.
Additionally, the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office never "grades" voters. Nor does the Secretary of State maintain records related to Iowa Caucus participation. Caucuses are organized and directed by the state political parties, not the Secretary of State, nor local elections officials. Also, the Iowa Secretary of State does not "distribute" voter records. This was my honest reaction, too.
Then Cruz confirmed it.

I’ve never doubted Cruz was brilliant. Immigration is my #1 issue, having escaped Mexifornia. So Trump’s policy was much better and more consistent.
But this just makes me wonder about some of his recent decisions.
The GOP-e is totally trying to take Cruz out In Iowa as many FReepers cheer them on. It’s like an alternate universe around here.
Haley Barbour is no fan of Cruz.

I have to admit, using liberal get out the vote tactics goes really hand in hand with the liberal belittling via name calling. I think there were much better ways to get out the vote than to issue 'voting violations' and grading voters. But hey, whatever floats your boat.
Ok, hope it doesn’t do him in. Damn shame if a stupid move knocks him out.

The only candidate specifically cited for doing this so far is Obama.
But this is an example of sending vinegar at a problem that would be better solved with honey. “Your neighborhood has been a low voting neighborhood in past primaries. Primaries count! Could we please have your vote?”
The reality is they both suck, for different reasons. Sad thing is, compared to the rest of the field, they rock.
We’re once again stuck with what we have.
