...
The first thought that comes to mind is that Trump keeps coming back to this attack against Cruz for a couple of reasons. The first is that he cannot make attacks on Cruz's record of standing up for conservative principles the centerpiece of his strategy because that leaves him open to greater scrutiny of his own liberal record...

That’s not correct at all.
It is all political.
Trump doesn’t believe Cruz is not eligible, 88% of the population doesn’t believe it, either, from the only poll I’ve seen on the subject.
The other 12% could be supporting anyone, so let’s say those 12% aren’t Trump supporters already, he could get a 1 to 3 percent bump, which could put him in the lead in a close state like Iowa.
We shall see next week.
Full disclosure, i support Cruz.
He does it every time - very effectively - but it doesn’t change the fact he has not had to explain his ultra liberal, big government solutions to every issue. Even the issue he used to launch himself to stardom - illegal immigration - he’s a complete phony on. He strongly supported amnesty in June 2015, all the way up to just before he launched his campaign. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Enw6Yx19qSg
Granted both Trump and Cruz have one American born parent and one foreign born...
but Trump was born here...Cruz wasn’t
Meanwhile both of the parents of Rubio were not born here which is OK if they were nationalized American citizens BEFORE he was born..
but they weren’t...
They were like Bobby Jindals parents...
Bobby Jindal and Rubio have the same problem..
I have read that Cruz not only did not realize he held Canadian citizenship, but that he only renounced it 18 months ago.
It’s just stunning how many times Cruz has had to say, I didn’t know, they didn’t tell me, there was an error made, it’s McConnell’s fault, I was not for AMNESTY, when he has made miles of ground on saying he is the smartest guy in the room, the very best debater, the only one who knows the Constitution.
The “ick” factor is starting to take on a life of its own.
Trump's mother was born in Scotland. On his father's side, both grandparents were born in Germany. Cruz's father was born in Cuba. His maternal great-grandparents were immigrants from Italy and Ireland. Counting the generations, Cruz's family has actually been here longer than Trump's.
The only issue that matters is whether a child born abroad to a U.S. citizen parent is a "natural born citizen." The Constitution doesn't define the term. The 1790 statute would seems to clarify the matter in Cruz's favor.
As a practical matter, the anti-Cruz birther crowd is now in the position of arguing that a Mexican anchor baby born when mom sneaked across the border and birthed in San Diego is constitutionally privileged against the children of U.S. military personnel, State Department kids, the children of U.S. business expats or academics teaching abroad, etc. It is not a position I would care to defend. Nor can I conceive of the courts ruling this way.
If you don't like Ted Cruz, beat him on the merits, not by improvising an ad hoc rule that would rebound against a rather large class of U.S. citizens with All-American parentage.
That, right now, is the only thing that matters.
Whether Cruz is an NBC or not is irrelevant.
The question is now if he has the good judgment to lead this nation?
That little flyer says no.
If stupidity were money, right now Cruz would be a billionaire.
Well CommieState, Ted was a Canadian anchor baby. What he is now is for the pending lawsuits and the courts to decide.
I thought Cruz was infamous for his memory. I’m as impressed with that supposed fact as I am with his master debater status.
Canned Spam, he called Teddy a “Canadian anchor baby” - notice the difference? And the Red State they are filled with Kooky TDS’ers.
The light came on!!
NO RECORD!
soooo, you’re saying the constitution is irrelevant?
Why would anyone believe differently if Cruz says it. Of course, Cruz being the smartest guy in the room, argued as a strict Constitutionalist in college, an “originalist view” of the Constitution, which would strictly and originally embrace the two citizen-parents requirement.
UNTIL, it affected himself.
Ted only 18 months ago renounced his Canadian citizenship, from Canada, where he was born and raised as a Canadian citizen for two years, with a Cuban born father and an American mother, both whom had Canadian citizenship in order to be eligible to vote.
LoL Canned Spam, Trump’s mother was a US citizen at the time of his birth. Trump’s father was a US citizen. And Trump was born in the US of A.
You understand what that makes Donald J. Trump? NBC.
Everyone is watching it. This is just the beginning. He will be beat to a PULP if he is the nominee.
Also, Trump’s mother was:
1. A US naturalized citizen PRIOR to Trump’s birth. Naturalized in 42 and Trump born in 45, iirc.
2. A bride romanced in this country when visiting from Scotland, and NOT one seeking asylum from a 3rd world dictatorship.
Bottom line: Trump was born INSIDE the USA to parents, BOTH of whom were US citizens.
... Cruz should have tried to clear this up. Iâm sure he realized there was gonna be stink about it. If heâs the nominee, the MSM will suddenly become experts on citizenship for the November election.
The whole thing is a farce. If you guys want to believe it just do so. Don’t try to convince rational, thinking people. None of the suits against bambi was ever taken seriously.
Trump knows he is lying and so do his honest supporters (are there any)?.
Please stop destroying yourself. Get a grip.
Cruz cannot pass the very first Constitutional requirement for becoming President. Everything else is superfluous.
