The Republican front-runner has secured his standing, as Ted Cruz has faltered.
Its probably too soon to run for the hills just yet.
But if youre worried about the possibility that the nuclear launch codes might a year from now be in the hands of a megalomaniacal strongman with a tenuous grip on reality, the scene on the ground in Iowa with just three days to go until the caucuses won't make you feel much better.
Donald Trump appears poised to notch a major victory in the first electoral test of the year -- a win that would further launch him along a once implausible path toward actually becoming the 2016 Republican presidential nominee.
This prevailing sentiment solidified during Thursday nightâs debate when Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) failed to capitalize on the GOP front-runner's glaring absence from the stage, instead choosing to bicker with the moderators in Trump-like fashion but without the flair.
And in a clear indication of his campaigns new strategic priority of trying to hold onto a now-tenuous second-place standing in Iowa at the expense of competing more explicitly to win it, the Cruz campaign is turning its focus over the airwaves away from the front-runner and toward Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).
The New York Times reported on Friday that Cruz had shifted almost all of his negative advertising away from Trump and toward Rubio, in a last-minute attempt to prevent the upstart Floridian from surging into a second-place showing in Iowa -- a result that would upend the race and might prove fatal to Cruzs 2016 hopes.

Must be a Trump Fan
It ain’t over ‘till the fat lady sings, but she’s definitely getting warmed up...
Is that the difference between Wharton and Princeton?
Well, at least it is no longer under entertainment.
I’m pretty sure the list of political pundits who have successfully called the Iowa caucuses for two or more presidential election cycles is an extremely short list.
With that in mind, I’ll expect a different result when they are reported.
I heard a few bars as she was warming up for the finale.
Is this Fox Snooze?
Pray America wakes
If Trump wins this nomination, every conservative I personally know is going politically Galt.
Good luck with your blowhard windsock.
Huffington puffington piece.
All stories on Trump must be hateful, even if the news is positive for him.
Why wait, do it now!
THAT's exactly what I want our enemies to think about before they cross us.
Thanks Huffpro, keep spreading the word.
“Is this Fox Snooze?”
Or National Review, or Glenn Beck, or Hot Air, or Mark Levin.
Kinda hard to tell these days.
Same language they used with Ronald Reagan. It was that a**hole, Bill Clinton, who LOST the nuclear codes.
Trump has brought more life to conservatism then anybody since Reagan
Good point, as if the HuffingtonPuffingtonPost would be any happier with the keys to the nukes in the hands of a Harvard law grad who speaks well and was born outside the US...
Please tell us where we can find your stuff...
Huff puffed that headline.
It probably hurt like crazy.
LOL
Rent Is Too Damn High Party founder endorses Trump
