Of all the many things said about Donald Trump, what was said by Roger Ailes, head of the Fox News Channel, said it all in just two words: "Grow up!"
It is amazing how many people have been oblivious to this middle-aged man's spoiled brat behavior, his childish boastfulness about things he says he is going to do, and his petulant response to every criticism with ad hominem replies.
He has boasted that his followers would stick by him even if he committed murder. But is that something to boast about? Is it not an insult to his followers, if it is true? Moreover, his cockiness is misplaced, because he still does not have a majority among Republican voters, while you need a majority of all the voters to win any state in the general election.
Trump has a showman's talent for telling people what they want to hear. But you can listen in vain for a coherent argument from him, based on facts and logic, much less an understanding of the inherent limitations of the office of president.
More than two centuries ago, Edmund Burke said: "Constitute government how you please, infinitely the greater part of it must depend upon the exercise of the powers which are left at large to the prudence and uprightness of ministers of state."
In other words, the personal character of the people to whom you entrust the powers of government matters even more than what kinds of government institutions there are. There have been some good kings and some bad presidents, as well as vice versa.

I actually don’t hear Trump much — just smatterings on talk radio. Probably works for the best. Keeps me a with a different perspective.
Among other things, Trump has taken complete control of the political and media narrative. Perot didn’t do that.
Reading these posts with insults and put downs in them has become quite entertaining.
I have three words in parting.
Monday is coming...
So now it’s time to nitpick his charity work.
Bottom line — veterans will increasingly find a commander-in-chief they can feel good about.
So how about this for Trump bashing?
If he gains too much military support, could he launch a coup? That’s the key to dictatorial power, right?
Telapathic message to Glenn Beck! Calling ... Glenn Beck!
[Just having some fun, Beck. Lighten up!]
You are aware one major sponsor pulled out right?
I’m not sure what rates those that stayed paid.
I suspect there was some sort of sliding scale depending on viewers.
I wonder if you get paid less for 12 million viewers vs 24 million.
LOL
Night...
AW!M...your humor in ON this morning!!
Am I a conservative?
If asked I would say I was. But I guess I don’t meet the purity test of many on this forum. So I will change from conservative to independent.
I support Trump for two reasons. First, he is not afraid to stand up for himself, he is not afraid of the name calling, he is not afraid of offending some, he is providing a voice for millions of Americans that have been coerced into silence. The left should appreciate the service Trump is doing because without him, the pressure of middle America was building to an explosive ending.
The second reason I support Trump is he has shined the light on both both political parties and it has become clear that the Democrats and Republicans have been tag teaming Americans. As some of said, we are no longer a two party system, but a “Uni” party.
Even if Trump’s heart is not “pure”, he is providing a service to America. And it is for that reason I support him.
So if that means I have “drank the kool aid” so be it.
As an aside I have begun to ignore comments from Cruz supporters. If he wins the nomination I will vote for him, but in truth I do not believe he is strong enough to stand up to the left. And right now we need someone that is not afraid of the media or the left, someone willing to offend if necessary.
Trump is promising hope and change. Where have I heard that before!
The problem is that HE hasn’t changed. Still babbling on (and being well-paid to do it) about the world economy not being a “zero sum” game even though technology/transportation has made it exactly that.
He’s just throwing a temper tantrum now that it is obvious that no one is buying the crap that he is selling. “We” have known for years that our trade & foreign policy deals are screw jobs; Trump finally gives us a voice.
Someone needs to take Tommy out to the car; I think he needs a nap.
Except that’s not true....Trump complained about the length of the debates and a bit of the format....and got it changed.(Carson did his Me2 routine on this)
There isn’t one policy or plan you mentioned in that whole post. Why when trying to sell Trump do you not mention one specific thing he would do as President? How can you not think that’s important to mention? You don’t hire someone you “like” for a job without considering what they’re actually going to be doing on that job.
What “voice” is he providing, what is he saying that no one else was saying?
Cruz is the one who shined a light on the corruption in both parties. He sure as hell did stand up to Obama, the left, the media, his own party, and he did it from a position of MUCH less power than Trump has.
What is so wrong, in a primary, of choosing the candidate who represents more of your values than any of the other candidates? Isn’t the candidate who you disagree with the least the one who is the lesser of the evils?
Amazing that Rush was so quick to grasp the new reality.
It's not Trump who actually killed the old paradigm. Life moves in "turnings" or "paradigm shifts." Trump was just the right man in the right place and the right time. And his life's work has been go recognize business, political, and cultural shifts and to build on them.
We knew the old weltanschauung/world view was dying when Obama was elected (and his second election removed all doubt). In fact, we might even trace it back to 9/11 and when Bush recanted his call for a new Crusade and told us that islam was "the religion of peace."
No it hasn't. You don't understand economics any better than a Sanders socialist. A rising tide lifts all boats. Capitalism and free trade creates wealth and abundance for everybody who participates in it. It's why our standard of living has simply skyrocketed. Poor people in the U.S. today lead lifestyles that would have been the envy of all but the wealthiest 50 years ago. It's sad that you think transportation and technology are BAD things. They represent the unlocking of wonderful new freedoms for all of us.
But don't let me stop you from telling us what a great commander in chief he will be, please continue.
I wouldn’t say Trump took complete control. When the debate gets 12 million viewers and his show gets a 2 million bump on other networks, that’s less than complete control. Perot was also a major phenomenon in his own right for a fair amount of time.
The media WANTS Trump to be in control now, during the primary. The Dems want to run against him and the media wants to drown out the GOP candidates who are polling better. This will all change in the general election when the media will work to make Trump the most hated figure in America.
I'm sorry to see that Mr. Sowell is repeating the same lie that The Establishment is.
There is plenty of true stuff people can use against Trump, but I hate to see supposed conservatives lie.
Use the whole quote or don't use it at all, you frauds:
"You know what else they say about my people? The polls, they say I have the most loyal people. Did you ever see that? Where I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose any voters, okay? It's like incredible,"
Shades of the msm's convenient pre-general election "love" for John McCain.
‘You’re praising a draft dodger....’
Good grief. Why is it that Trump bashers spend more time on garbage and insults than on meaningful vetting?
Been here for several weeks — first I heard of Trump being a ‘draft dodger’.
Been doing a lousy job if this is true.
I gave you the links.
