Of all the many things said about Donald Trump, what was said by Roger Ailes, head of the Fox News Channel, said it all in just two words: "Grow up!"
It is amazing how many people have been oblivious to this middle-aged man's spoiled brat behavior, his childish boastfulness about things he says he is going to do, and his petulant response to every criticism with ad hominem replies.
He has boasted that his followers would stick by him even if he committed murder. But is that something to boast about? Is it not an insult to his followers, if it is true? Moreover, his cockiness is misplaced, because he still does not have a majority among Republican voters, while you need a majority of all the voters to win any state in the general election.
Trump has a showman's talent for telling people what they want to hear. But you can listen in vain for a coherent argument from him, based on facts and logic, much less an understanding of the inherent limitations of the office of president.
More than two centuries ago, Edmund Burke said: "Constitute government how you please, infinitely the greater part of it must depend upon the exercise of the powers which are left at large to the prudence and uprightness of ministers of state."
In other words, the personal character of the people to whom you entrust the powers of government matters even more than what kinds of government institutions there are. There have been some good kings and some bad presidents, as well as vice versa.

Sowell and the effete elites ranting from a baggage car in the shunting yard, while the Trump Express rolls on. Exposing the pretensions of the Cravat Set such a welcome side effect.
I’ll give that one to you. That was a clear joke by Trump. I LOL out a lot of his comments. He’s a great stand-up comedian. I just think he’s a terrible representation of my values. And I do hate it when people take a JOKE out of context and quote as if the person who said it actually meant it. People could do the same thing to Cruz with his joke mocking Trump last night. It’s a dirty, dishonest tactic. We need more humor in politics and campaigns and this only discourages it.
Really the country is going to be concerned about this high mindedness after Clinton’s and Obama’s,that stuff went out a long time ago
Trump has taken complete control of the political and media narrative.
Iâm surprised Fox didnât book Perez Hilton.
And, he avoided an ambush by faux journalists attempting a partisan cheap shot for their masters. All in one fell swoop!
Brilliant. I want him on my side.
... Is the fact that he loudly expressed our own disgust with the political establishment a sufficient reason to gamble the whole future of the country by putting him in the White House?
Grania, seriously, Sowell is saying what we have been saying. How many friends do you have that live to destroy others lives like he does, who lies like he does, that if analyzed probably 90% of what he says is I am the greatest and so and so sucks? Is this the first candidate in your life you are supporting that his record and changing his believes every other day does not matter to you? Rubio lost us with one flip flop and Donnie is allowed hundreds?
There is no logic to it. So much blind faith in one so undeserving.
Get some more java, JJ.
Controlling the media narrative is not the same thing as controlling the media.
The media narrative is what the media is talking about.
‘I’m surprised Fox didn’t book Perez Hilton.’

Earlier today GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump retweeted an obviously fake photo featuring a woman in a burqa, Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly and Saudi Prince Al-Waleed Talal.
[Should FoxNews invite ISIS leaders to moderate their next debate? Imagine the ratings!]
Is freedom of speech/freedom of association, etc out the door for Trump and his supporters?
Well Trump has spoken of Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin in somewhat glowing terms. And Leo isn't the first Trump supporter here to advocate Trump arresting and jailing all his opponents and members of the press after being anointed as Supreme Leader (oops, I meant elected as POTUS) ; )
LOL, wut? You totally lost me on that one. Maybe you're drinking too much Java and are a little jittery right now.
Yep, less than 24 hours, the hall was filled, he got $4 million in donations, donated a million himself, and got over a million in personal donations.
The hall was filled and thousands were standing outside wanting to come in.
Trump has incredible magnetism.
Gee, he missed that opportunity.
Oh well.
B.S. Poor people live well here because the dwindling supply of hard working & taxpaying citizens in this country are paying for it...THAT is Socialism.
You are still babbling the “rising tide lifts all boats” garbage that was applicable 30 years ago. That was my POINT about technology and transportation and the idiocy of the old “zero-sum” game argument.
The global economy IS a zero-sum game...there are no new players to be had. We have nowhere to go but down unless we protect ourselves; and down we have been going for well over a decade now. Use your brain and quit spouting platitudes...the evidence is all around you, FGS.
I was not laying out policies for his administration, only why I support him.
I understand Trump has contributed more of his personal wealth to democrats than veterans.
I don’t get it. You support him without regard to his policies? It’s all just personality? That’s scary. He could get in there and implement all of Obama’s policies, and you wouldn’t care?
The Facts: “Drudge Report” Post FNC Debate Internet Poll Results as of this morning, 01/30/2016. Please take note that Donald J. Trump did not take part in the flawed Fox News Channel Debate, but rather held his own “Veterans Rally” in Iowa, which drew some 14,000,000 million TV voters across the USA (CNN, MSNBC, C-Span, OAN, Numerous Live Feeds, etc. and raised over $6,000,000 dollars for disabled veterans and their families!!! The Fox News Channel whose “first” POTUS debate drew a record 24,000,000 viewers was not nearly matched by this Fox News Channel POTUS debate which drew only 12,500,000 viewers some 50% less then their first debate!!! Note: only the Trump & Cruz poll numbers are listed. The remaining Republicans running to gain the POTUS running to gain the Republican POTUS nomination recived too few votes to list!!!
- Donald J. Trump - 61.13% = 839,297 votes
- Ted Cruz - !8.83% = 258,796 votes
Caucus Voters in Iowa......the handwriting is on th wall. A vote cast for Ted Cruz is a wasted vote. Ted cannot win the Republican nomination for POTUS...period, and, should he win the Republican nomination for POTUS,he will never win the general election against any Democrat rival...period. Ted Crua will never get the massive amount of crossover votes that Donald J. Trump will get from all stripes of political voters across our great country!!!
I urge “ALL” Iowa caucus voters to turn out and cast you vote Monday evening, February 1, 2016 for Donald J. Trump to be the POTUS!!! Please turn out in massive numbers this voming Monday to support and cast your vote for Donald J. Trump as the Republican nominee for POTUS & help “Make America Great Again”!!!
GO DONALD TRUMP!!!
That happens a lot doesn't it.;-)
If you don't understand the term media narrative, you need to do a little studying.
The media narrative is the story line/discussion sequence presented by the media (i.e. what is being talked about in the media).
No it’s not a “zero-sum” game. The evidence of what I said is all around. A tremendous increase in standard of living. Cheap consumer goods, cheap travel, explosion in computers, tv, cable, phones, cars. We’ve gone through life-changing booms in standard of living just since the ‘80s, when all these “trade deals” were supposedly supposed to be killing us. I see NO evidence of that.
People working to create things creates this abundance. An economy has one purpose, and that is to motivate people to produce. Life gets better for all of us as innovation after innovation compounds on top of each other. There is no “zero-sum,” there is constant improvement for everybody engaged in capitalism and free trade.
