Unbelievable – Ted Cruz Campaign Sends Out Personal “Shaming Letters” To Iowa Voters…
conservativetreehouse ^ | 1/30/2016 | sundance

Posted on 01/29/2016 10:28:45 PM PST by 20yearsofinternet

The personalized letters target individual Iowa voters and identifies them as having failed to vote in prior elections. They are admonished and then encouraged to vote this year. In addition the letters identify the neighbors of the voter, and provides their voting history.

The text reads:

"You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area. Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors' are public record. Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well. CAUCUS ON MONDAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. A follow-up notice may be issued following Monday's caucuses".

In an effort to shame the recipient, the notice also informs the targeted voter their neighbors have also been notified of the recipients poor voting record.

If he was a naturalized citizen, as opposed to natural born, where are his naturalization papers...?

You can study it for yourself. His mother registered him as an American Citizen when he turned 16 years old. It was reported that Cruz's mother "registered his birth with the U.S. consulate" and that Cruz traveled on a U.S. passport in 1986 while on a high school trip. No documentation has been provided.

It boils down to Cruz being a Canadian at birth but only registered as an American at the age of 16.

Imagine a Palestinian living in Syria travels to the USA and is given Asylum. Then he marries an American and gets a job in the petroleum industry and is sent to Jordan. While there he applies to Jordan and he and his wife become Jordanian citizens. The have a son while living in their new country. As the son's mother was an American citizen, when the boy turns 16 she has his birth registered with the US Consulate as a citizen. The family travels back to live in America and eventually their son decides to run for the US Presidency. To avoid "complications" When he starts his campaign he officially renounces his Jordanian Citizenship.

Is the boy eligible to be our President?

Clearly he is not. This is the same scenario as Ted Cruz's life.

The reason for the Natural Born clause was to deny any person that could have divided loyalties from being President. If a person is not even recognized to be an American until the age of 16, how could that be twisted in knots to be seen as a Natural Born Citizen? It cannot.

That was absolutely crazy.

The progression was:

It's a lie.
It's a dirty trick by another campaign.
The non-voters need tough love.
I don't think this came from the "official" campaign. It's not that big a deal.
It's a small story that no one will report.
Ted Cruz didn't know about it.

And now we're on: It won't hurt him.

I think it's despicable that he would send a voting notice with the name "Donna Holstein" in ...well, in Iowa.

At least none of the other voters were named "Ima Hogg"...

(...just *kidding* / making the rubble bounce)

I understand what the purpose is.

It is to prevent an immigrant who is not a citizen at birth from had prong those divided loyalties.

Ted Cruz was a citizen at birth. Accepting to US law he was a citizen. According to the naturalization act of 1790 a citizen’s status of being naturally born is conveyed from the parent, even if living abroad.

Should a US marine who is fighting overseas and had his child overseas, be denied the right for that child to be President? Should an ambassador living abroad suffer the same fate?

You are twisting law in order to avoid taking on your candidate’s greatest opponent through a solid discussion on policy. Instead, you want to try and just flat out make him ineligible.

Answer me this: if he is ineligible, why is his name being certified by the secretary of states of all the states his name is appearing on? Don’t you think THEY would do a little bit of vetting on the issue...?

Getting bigger.

I'd love to hear from Iowa Freepers. Is this getting airplay on local Iowa new stations? What are they hearing on the ground about it.

I think you’re right that for someone to change their vote on what a candidate might do or not do in his campaign is indeed a shallow voter.........but there are many shallow voters to begin with I think.... They sway easily....

I’m so glad I determined who I would support, ... compared their histories and positions long before “the show” began. The gimmicks and stunts they all play get really silly in some cases and down right nasty in others.....with everything else in between.

So this ‘stuff’ doesn’t do anything to sway those who have done their homework and are secure with their choice. It just occupies the media and entertains the voters.

So, you don’t think him arguing (and winning) the cases at SCOTUS, and having a long standing impact on other cases around the US, in protection of the Constitutional rights, isn’t substantial? What world do you live in?

The landmark case of District of Columbia v. Heller, Cruz assembled a coalition of 31 states in defense of the principle that the 2nd Amendment guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms

Presented oral arguments before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit

Defended the Ten Commandments monument on the Texas State Capitol grounds,

Defended the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools

The campaigns also get caught up in it, not just the media. And you are so correct about how little a something will sway someone’s vote.

Any reports of voters who read it and said “Oh gosh, I’m going to caucus for Cruz now!”

Any reports at all?

People enjoy their blissful ignorance about how much folks they will never meet know about them...This letter just unsettles folks by reminding them of something they’d rather ignore... it’s not going to help Cruz, but nothing about it is private.

You are so right, there is a little known world out there that some get to peek into from time to time.

As a retired telecommunications technician that has worked for IT&T, MCI, Sprint and Verizon, I have listened to thousands of private phone calls even in the wee hours of the morning just to stay awake on the midnight shift.

It is all OK because we were required to do that in order to detect and clear transmission problems or just to monitor trunks to listen for the last call on progress so a system could be taken out of service for maintenance.

Arguing cases in front of the United States Supreme Court is just “committees” to you? Again, what freakin world do you live in?

I guess you prefer someone who speaks loudly, says crass and rude things, insults anyone who disagrees with them, and doesn’t have a set core of principles that he sticks by, eh? You prefer someone who lies and cheats, or rather, buys favors and bribes people, over someone who argues CONSTITUTIONAL cases in front of the SCOTUS.

ok.....weirdo

Well ...they all tend to seize on whatever the media chooses to make an issue. It happens every election... then people go on a see-saw of emotions and tune in like a soap opera to see the latest.

This is a perfect example of why I choose to give Cruz a wide and open range in his run...these things simply won’t affect who and what this man is about...and he’s proven it long before he announced.

The man is solid in what and who he is about...because he knows what and who is his foundation.
