The personalized letters target individual Iowa voters and identifies them as having failed to vote in prior elections. They are admonished and then encouraged to vote this year. In addition the letters identify the neighbors of the voter, and provides their voting history.
The text reads:
"You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area. Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors' are public record. Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well. CAUCUS ON MONDAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. A follow-up notice may be issued following Monday's caucuses".
In an effort to shame the recipient, the notice also informs the targeted voter their neighbors have also been notified of the recipients poor voting record.

I did not know that the link was about that information. I got the impression that it was just information about the man and his business. Also, it is helpful to put the link on a separate line, as sometimes it is hard to see where the link begins and ends.
“The other night I was lying in bed, looking up at the stars, and I wondered, ‘Where the hell is my roof?”
- Steven Wright
What a poor time to pull this stunt.
Wright makes me actually laugh out loud.
In other news, it gets worse for Cruz:
Statement from Secretary of State Paul Pate Regarding Misleading Mailer from Cruz for President Campaign
State of Iowa Seal
State of Iowa Seal
DES MOINES â âToday I was shown a piece of literature from the Cruz for President campaign that misrepresents the role of my office, and worse, misrepresents Iowa election law. Accusing citizens of Iowa of a âvoting violationâ based on Iowa Caucus participation, or lack thereof, is false representation of an official act.
“Good grief. Itâs a campaign. Not a single Trumpee cares about the total vileness of The One.”
This kind of thing is always perceived as more vile when it comes from someone like Cruz who has held himself up as the Constitutional, Conservative, Christian second coming.
We love Trump because he says it like it is. Cruz is about as smart as Beck when it comes to influencing people. BTW, Trump has seldom been wrong when he has called someone a less than complimentary name, crude though he may be.
In this case, “nasty guy” pretty well sums it up. Oh, and then there’s “maniac”. Only one of those would think this mailer would be a way to influence voters.
LOL, I love Steven Wright!

Statement from (Iowa) Secretary of State Paul Pate Regarding Misleading Mailer from Cruz
Less than 24 hours later CNN has the Secretary of State on record about it.
By tonight, it will be a topic of discussion for the talking heads and there will be spots on local news stations featuring pissed off Iowa voters and their neighbors.
If you go through the threads from last night, we tried to tell you this was an epic mistake. No one believed it.
Soooooo True. This is the gift that keeps on giving. CNN will be all over it in 3-2-1.
Sounds like an Obama/Jarrett stunt:
“We will reward our friends and punish our enemies.”
Thanks for that link!
I don’t believe it is from Cruz or anyone that this notice says it is from. It’s campaign crap and creepy too. Probably from a Democrat to stir up disgust among GOP voters.
Ok, I’m wrong
“Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler confirmed to IJ Review that the mailer was theirs in a phone call Friday evening, saying that the targeting had been âvery narrow, but the caucuses are important and we want people who havenât voted before to vote.â
I can see Cruz as president ...
Eh, Heidie, take a memo ...
Dear Subject of the Realm:
I t has come to my attention that you, once again, have failed to support my Executive Action on increasing HB1 visas ...
As you know, I did inform you of the necessity of your support last week - and the previous week - and the week before that ...
Moreover, my head of Domestic Compliance, Sheriff of Naughtyham Beck, has informed me that this oversight is not the first on your record ... It is now the second time in which you have failed your sacred duty to support my God-ordained agenda ...
And, if I may suggest, it does behoove you to follow my edicts - after all, I AM THE ANOINTED KING!
And, I might also note, that your family, friends and neighbors have been advised of your negligence ... Please act to correct this oversight, so that I will not be compelled to consider rather unpleasant measures.
Best Regards,
HRM Ted Rafael Cruz, King of the Americas ... and Cuba
” This mailer wouldn’t work on me, I’d laugh at it and throw it out. But I’ll leave it to the marketing experts to figure out who it would work on.”
So that makes you one of the sickos who think the rest of the world is just dumb fodder to be manipulated by you “smart” people. Yep, a real jewel you are. Cruz would be proud to claim you as a constituent. It looks like he has a whole passel of you superior beings working for him. We’ll see how the “rabble” receives your manipulations. They just might not be as dumb as you think.
Oh, I see that, since you’ve gotten your @$$ scorched badly - you are now back peddling. Good. That’s very good - but a day late and a dollar short.
You’re welcome!
I figured it’s a follow up to this thread.
Leaving for the store soon to buy popping corn, butter and a packet of firewood.
The attorney general went after a campaign for a mailer in a different state. I know there was a complaint made to the State of Kentucky during the McConnell campaign. did not go anywhere though. Same firm did the mailing.
When I received mine from the electric company, my neighbors and I laughed.
It was a great communication tool.
This is only a big deal for people who want something to rail against.
You bore me....go the hell away.
