The personalized letters target individual Iowa voters and identifies them as having failed to vote in prior elections. They are admonished and then encouraged to vote this year. In addition the letters identify the neighbors of the voter, and provides their voting history.
The text reads:
"You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area. Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors' are public record. Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well. CAUCUS ON MONDAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. A follow-up notice may be issued following Monday's caucuses".
In an effort to shame the recipient, the notice also informs the targeted voter their neighbors have also been notified of the recipients poor voting record.

Look, man, if this is something that’s alright to you, then go vote for the creep.
“It’s not an invasion of privacy. Voting records are public records, no different than calling you on the phone if you have a listed number.”
What you really mean is that it is legal. So is picking through the neighbors’ trash to get a glimpse of what is going on in their lives. Legal, but damn sure a creeper invasion of privacy.
Why is Heidi Cruz a kook? What was that wandering along the side of the highway thing all about? Let’s go pick through the Cruz family’s trash and see what we can find. That is legal, so not an invasion of privacy.
So if sending you mail is âstalking,â what do you consider it when they call you and knock on your door?

Did you notice they also listed the names of the neighbors on it?
[they need some tough love]
I doubt if this letter is going make non-voters set their clocks to get to the caucus on time.
LOL Now now. I’m sure he wasn’t over 25...
“Nothing should surprise after Cruz hitches wagons to Beck.”
That is a very astute point. I am looking forward to Trump’s social media comments on this.
Is this even legal?
This is absolutely crazy! What was Cruz thinking???!
I’m going to have to say at this point, unless someone comes and proves this to be untrue, Cruz will not be my second or any other place.
This is just nuts.
This is strange.
“This is dumber than...Michael Dukakisâs tank.”
Take heart, nothing is or ever will be dumber than that.
[What was Cruz thinking???!]
Transparency in voting?
As if the unsoliciTED money-begging spam messages from Cruz weren’t enough, now we have creepy, high-pressure gotv messages, too.
Cruz is beyond socially awkward.
It's 2 AM EST and people on Twitter are having a s**t-fit.
If this bit of stupidity gets any play among the caucus goers in Iowa over the next two days, Cruz is just done. Stick-a fork-in-him done.
I called the Oklahoma Attorney General over a similar tactic, that was misleading.
This stuff needs to be reported.
However, the Brilliant One has more lawyers hanging around than staffers, so the words are legal yes, but the tactic was meant to take advantage of the ignorant, who took it at face value and may have felt shamed, it is a classless, desperate thing to do.
Iowa may take a fork to the ballet box for the Cruz campaign.
I thought this was satire for sure, but apparently it isn’t, wow! Public shaming has to be about the most communistic tactic anybody can use. Unbelievable!
“Cruz has been spending too much time with Glenn Beck.”
Thank God. We now know exactly how much of a creeper he would be with the Department of Domestic Surveillance and Control. Or, Homeland Security to give it its plush toy, user friendly title.
I don’t like this
I am surprised that a conservative would advocate such a thing. No true conservative appreciates big brother trying to coerce him into doing anything. My reaction would be very, very negative to something like this. Quoting from a young conservative, “I nicked the census man.”
