Oregon protest leader Ammon Bundy and seven others were arrested Tuesday night. Protester LaVoy Finicum was killed in the confrontation with police and the FBI.

On Wednesday Cliven Bundy, father of Ammon Bundy, told reporters his son told him the FBI murdered militia spokesman LaVoy Finicum with his hands up.

And what a magical thing it is, eh? Now, the narrative has become “he was going for his gun”, with the caveat that “they knew he was armed”. How special. A guy known to own and carry firearms — quite openly — had a gun! Oh, my!
Now, show me the unlawful action he took with that weapon — you know, like actually POINTING IT at someone — and I’ll conclude that any LEO had justification to drop him on the spot. Failure to do so, however, would seem to indicate that the shooter wasn’t acting in strict accordance with the law.
Isn’t it ironic that our soldiers, in a war zone, facing a known enemy, aren’t allowed by their “rules of engagement” to fire except and until they are first fired upon, but we’ve come to accept the notion that it is somehow ok (and even expected) that a LEO will shoot a non-criminal citizen in this country because of an imagined, potential danger that was never actually manifested?

Like I said, bringing guns into it raises the stakes and cuts the margin for error. Once they’ve got you stopped anything other than instant and unconditional compliance is going to get you hurt. A sudden movement, hands dropping out of sight, taking your foot off the brake.

Right, because police always go around shooting down concealed carry peeps ‘just in case they might at some point pull their gun’-
They witness testimony states that his hands were out the window when the police fired into the vehicle several times- missing everyone- and what does Finicum do? Start firing in return? Nope- He takes off- in an effort to save those in the vehicle, he gets stopped and immediately leaves the vehicle (likely because more shots were being fired into the vehicle) and gets as far from the vehicle as he can with his hands In the air- and IF he was shot with his hands In the air, then the whole meme of ‘he was dangerous’ and ‘he escalated the whole situation’ flies out the window- He had attempted to stop and surrender according to the witness, and he and his group were shot at- He takes off- does NOT fire back (according to witness) and again comes out In a passive manner
I still see an ambush of demonstrated superiority where the feds controlled the total scene from the minute they left the town..
If this were in Afghanistan, there’d have had to be a line to POTUS to get the final go ahead for the engagement. In this case, it was some old fart that had the effing audacity to tell the government he would RESIST - and they called him on it with several bullets.

Calm down, take a second look, and realize the following:
1. The video shows the roadblock was set just beyond a blind curve.
2. There was no possible way the vehicle approaching the road block could have stopped due to:
A. the roadblock having been placed too close to the blind curve to allow driver response time.
B. the roadblock was set on a road with high snowbanks on either side.
C. grossly insufficient stopping distance due to snow/icy conditions.
One must hope a jury will punish the shooters and compensate the families.
They wanted to be taken seriously. They were.
The cops, especially the Feds, wargame this sh!t all the time. Once you cross the line between “peaceful” and “capable of deadly force” it changes things. The Feds got the bejezus shot out of them on the first day of Waco; they were not going to let that happen again. The FBI knew that one or more of the group leaders would be on the road to a known destination. They were going to be stopped, and it was foolish for anyone to think otherwise. The only variable was whether they went down easy or hard.
This appears to be a remote setup on an isolated highway in woods. No witnesses around.
No other cars were seen on the highway, and the LEOs were blocking traffic far off in both directions. They had at least two car loads of LEOs pull them over for the initial stop. They stopped, but the occupants of the truck decided to make it to civilization where their meeting was going to he held. They did not want to deal with the LEOs on a lonely road in the woods.
Total setup with the secondary ambush road block waiting for them.
These guys were treated like international mass murdering terrorist

I only hope you don’t have to witness something like this for your loved one who actually had some ideals worth a damn.
The LEOs will tell you it was all set up on a lonely highway in the woods for public safety.

Here is the witness who put this statement out long before the video came out. She said they were shot at when stopped the first time. That is why they began driving.
Listen to her testimony-Ryan Bundy was in the backseat on her right and was shot while in the vehicle. They filled that truck with bullet holes & the Patriots never shot back once.
This was an ambush and the cops fired first & last.

No, I said armed protesters are the exact opposite from peaceful. The Feds have been training to take on armed citizens at least since Waco, and it’s only gotten worse in the last seven years. This shouldn’t have been a surprise and I’m not defending it.
I don’t know who was on scene in San Bernardino, it was over in a few hours. The Oregon standoff had been going on since 2 January - plenty of time to ramp-up a response.

If I was anyway involved in something like that I would advise against doing anything dangerous, dumb or involving bad tactics without weighing the consequences.
This is your stand? Janet Reno? A chicken Clinton? A prodding Hillary controlling things from behind the scene? 82 adults and 22 children burned to death? Over just an unforeseen accident? I agree. But that should be applied to the actions of the LEO’s, not the “occupiers”, I think.
Answer this simple question HONESTLY: of everything you’ve seen or heard, who actually — not allegedly — threatened anyone’s life, i.e., who pointed (much less fired) a weapon at anyone in the last couple of months?
Blaming the victim is not very sporting...
You might want to rethink all that. Based on evidence so far, the occupants of the truck never fired a single shot. But the feds/LEOs emptied dozens of round at them.
