This is Ted Cruz's Plan For the Supreme Court
Fortune ^ | December 2, 2015 | Ben Geier

Liberals won't like it.

If Ted Cruz is elected president, he has big plans for the Supreme Court -- namely, picking extremely conservative candidates to fill any vacancies among the nine justices.

In an interview with Bloomberg, the Senator and former solicitor general from Texas said that Republicans are generally bad at picking nominees for the high court, and that he'd be different.

"Unlike many of the other candidates, I will be willing to spend the capital to ensure that every Supreme Court nominee that I put on the court is a principled judicial conservative," Cruz said.

As solicitor general, Bloomberg notes, Cruz argued in front of the court on behalf of his state.

Cruz specifically called out Chief Justice John Roberts, appointed by George W. Bush, and Anthony Kennedy, appointed by Ronald Reagan, as bad picks. Roberts has gotten a lot of flack among conservatives in recent years for voting to uphold Obamacare, while Kennedy was castigated by the right for writing the opinion this year to legalize gay marriage.

The next president will likely have a few vacancies to fill. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Antonin Scalia, and Anthony Kennedy will all be over 80 years old by election day, while Stephen Breyer will be 78.

So how would Cruz find truly conservative justices? He said he'd look for candidates with "a long paper trail as principled conservative jurists." This means jurists who've actually made decisions, rather than the sometimes more politically palatable candidates without as much of a record.

So evidently,On August 26th or thereabouts, he spoke of his sister favorably. What did you expect him to say? It is five months later and other statements have been made which to me qualify his support of partial birth abortion. So you are going to disqualify the only person who has the know how to straighten out out failing economy and bring jobs back to America on a point that will be argued for some years to come? We won’t have a country if we don’t close the borders and get our economy in hand. To me they are the MOST important factors and I am PRO LIFE by the way!

Unless Mitch went nuclear they would never be approved and you know it. In fact we have little information that would lead us to believe we will even retain the Senate. People are angry at all of them and with good reason.

Maybe.

Still, under any circumstance I trust Cruz the most to pick judges.

Canadian citizenship requires 5 years someone stated, so how was Cruz’s father a Canadian Citizen and if so, Cruz’s mother would possibly be so too. I am asking QUESTIONS. Questions that need to be answered, but Ted Cruz will not allow his papers be opened to a Freedom of information request. What is he hiding?

If you are "pro life," then why are you backing Trump? He is not pro-life. And we will not have a country if we keep allowing our mothers to kill their own young. Borders and economy can be worked on, of course, but the person in charge must believe in life, for anything positive [overall] to happen [in this country].
On the last day, Jesus will say to those on His right hand, "Come, enter the Kingdom. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was sick and you visited me." Then Jesus will turn to those on His left hand and say, "Depart from me because I was hungry and you did not feed me, I was thirsty and you did not give me to drink, I was sick and you did not visit me." These will ask Him, "When did we see You hungry, or thirsty or sick and did not come to Your help?" And Jesus will answer them, "Whatever you neglected to do unto one of these least of these, you neglected to do unto Me!" -Mother Teresa

It's Mother Teresa, not Mother Theresa, just so you know. And the quote I just posted at #205 [spoken by Mother Teresa at the National Prayer Breakfast], was from Jesus. Do you worship Him?

I existed a very long time before I came on FR. My opinions are the result of study and experience. You don’t have to accept them, but please don’t try to question my consistency. Most people sometime or other change their opinions about certain things. That is, if they are educated properly as to critical thinking and analyses.

I have stated WHY I support Trump, and WHY I consider abortion not a viable argument at this time in our history to disqualify a contender. You disagree. So continue a forty year argument and watch the country fade into obscurity.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!”

Apparently GOD is referring to the people who live in the nation.

IF his mother filed with the Embassy of the United States in Canada within the allotted time, he should have papers. The problem is he has never shown anything but his Canadian Birth Certificate and his mother’s American Birth Certificate. As a lawyer he KNOWS there is something missing.

I am not under examination, Cruz is. And I really don’t care how her name is spelled, nor am I Catholic though many of my friends are.

>>Apparently GOD is referring to the people who live in the nation.

We are all Christians first. We are the people that God has chosen to draw to him. The heathens who live among us in the United States of America will remain heathens, pagans, atheists until their deaths unless God chooses to give them his truth.

They outnumber us and always will. No president will bring a single person to Christ that God did not want brought to him.

God gave us this continent as a safe place to get through the turbulent centuries after the Muslims were driven out of Europe and then, just a few decades later, the Reformation of his holy catholic (catholic with a small c) church. He doesn’t need the USA to do his work, as you can see by the explosion of faith in Africa and Asia. If God wants to pour out saving grace on this nation, he will pour it into millions of individual hearts, not into one president.

You don't need to be a Catholic to understand the devastation of abortion. Cruz fell away from the Catholic faith, is what I've been told, but he still maintains a 100% pro-life status. And if you don't even care how people spell their names, then what does that say about any type of endorsement you give for anyone at all?

Dollars to donuts, Trump's sister will be on the bench, as soon as there is an opening.

This from Jindal (in September), which I still agree with:
The problem with Donald Trump is that he will never be president. His nomination as the Republican candidate would gift the White House to Hillary Clinton. He would self-destruct in a general election. In fact, he may be Clinton's only hope. And even if he were somehow to win, we have no idea how he would govern....

Last week, I said on national television that Donald Trump is a shallow, unserious, substance-free, narcissistic egomaniac.

It's pointless arguing policy with someone not intellectually curious enough to care and who makes it up on the fly. According to him, his plans will be "fabulous" and "something terrific."

His problem with Washington isn't big government, it's that he's not running it. He's not liberal, moderate or conservative. He's not Republican or Democrat. Donald Trump is for Donald Trump. He believes only in himself. -Bobby Jindal

As far as I know, Cruz has never been Catholic - he is a Southern Baptist. But he is 100% pro-life.

I don’t care how people spell their names because they are often spelled differently or even spoken differently in different countries. Example, St. Jacques in France is St. James in England. Same man. St. Nicolas is St. Nicholas, etc.
I have been pro life since Roe vs. Wade. I do not, however, believe a forty year argument is going to be resolved in the next four years. If we don’t focus our attention on the Economic failure and mass onslaught of foreigners we cannot either control or support without building the wall and sending them home, we will NOT HAVE A COUNTRY LEFT! So you continue marching right off the cliff and turn the country over to someone not qualified to fight the IMMEDIATE battles, and watch the SOVEREIGNTY of America turn to dust.
It’s your choice.

Okay, thank you. Maybe my source meant his folks were originally Catholic, and then they fell away from the faith [maybe before Ted was born]. I'll have to do some searching on that. Either way, yes, 100% pro-life, and I love it. If a man has that correct, chances are his down-the-line decisions will be based on that which is right and holy.

Also: Since members in my Tea Party group were assigned candidates to investigate and report on, I am extremely familiar with Bobby Jindal’s positions, many of which I approved. He was my assignment!

[We are all Christians first. We are the people that God has chosen to draw to him.]

Because we are all Christians first, why wouldn’t we vote for a candidate whose beliefs mirror our own? Think about the “Leader’s Prayer” - Psalm 20

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=psalm+20&version=NIV

How can God answer when the leader calls if he is not a in accord with God? How can a leader say, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God” if he doesn’t believe it?

Being a nation under God takes a Godly leader who will declare we are one nation under God. The book of Judges show nations are judged by their leaders. We have an obligation to elect Godly leaders to office.

You might well be right, but don't you think Jesus might intervene, especially if we haven't elected a pro-life man as president this time around?

Who do you think understands better that Christ is King? Cruz or Trump?
