In an interview published Monday morning, President Barack Obama said he hopes that the Republican Party nominates someone more moderate than the party's current presidential front-runners.
Obama, speaking with Politico correspondent Glenn Thrush, implicitly compared the 2016 race to his own opponent in 2008: Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona).
"When I ran against John McCain, John McCain and I had real differences, sharp differences, but John McCain didn't deny climate science," Obama recalled.

Especially if Trump is the only name people see in the headline and they don’t look to find out the headline is misleading.
Don’t know how you DNA possibly assume Cruz has the better brain, when there is a very long lifetime of Trumps HUGE accomplishments?? I am very bewildered by this remark!
Not even close on the better brain part, despite Trump's great wealth.
Plus reveal that he usurped the office. Not only would Obama be disgraced in the history books, so would Congress (for subverting the constitution by improvidently seating a dual citizen) and SCOTUS (for evading the issue).
Another ringing endorsement for Trump!
Sort of like Hitler recommending the Allies get rid of Patton!
America: Obama, we don’t care about your version of “hope” which includes your hatred for America and attempted coup d’etats. We don’t care about your “hope” and we hate your “change.” Go away. You should have been impeached and removed by now.
Beck was doing great work. He left Fox because his secretary was receiving daily threats/harassment and Fox would not provide security - probably because his exposure of the communist-Islamist cabal hit a little too close to home for the Alwaleed-funded company. And the regime threats from October of 2008 may have been reiterated to Roger Ailes too - only this time the gag being against the truth of Obama’s connections to the communists and Islamists who actually worked together to make the threats that got Obama elected.
When Beck had the story of the “Saudi person of interest” in the Boston Marathon bombing and staked his reputation on that - only to have the news media’s CEO’s quash the reporters’ stories about the Obama regime removing the “Saudi person of interest”’s name from the “Known Terrorist” list so Obama could deport him quickly before the Boston Police Dept could secure justice - I think Beck just kind of gave up.The public would only consider the drive-by’s as “credible” and their CEO’s would never let the truth get out.
I wish the truth could just finally get out there. Some will be vindicated and some will be exposed. Most will probably be a little bit of each. I don’t like what has happened with Beck, especially considering the valuable work he was doing. I’d like the truth of what happened to be known so people can view things fairly.

O'REILLY: Fidel Castro, do you admire the man?
TURNER: Yes.
O'REILLY: Now he has murdered people. He's imprisoned people. There are political prisoners now. He won't let his people use the Internet. Nobody can use that. And you admire the guy?
TURNER: Well, I admire certain things about him. He's trained a lot of doctors, and they've got one of the best educational systems in the developing world. And you know, he's still popular with a lot of people down there. He's unpopular...
O'REILLY: But he's a killer. He's a killer. He's a guy who...
TURNER: But that has never, to my knowledge, that's never been proven. I mean...
O'REILLY: He's executed political prisoners. I mean, he enslaves people who don't see it the way he sees it. Come on. He's a dictatorship. If you admire him, then why wouldn't you admire Mussolini? I mean, what's the difference? Mussolini put people back to work. There was order. The educational system was fine. See, I'm not getting this. This is what I don't understand about it.
TURNER: Well, OK, well, if you don't see the difference between Castro and Mussolini, you know, then you know, I likened some aspects of FOX News to the Nazis, so, I mean, you know, it works both ways.
O'REILLY: But you just admitted to me that that wasn't a very good thing to do and wasn't accurate.
TURNER: Hey, listen, I didn't say I wanted to live in Cuba. And I didn't say that I was buddy buddies with Fidel Castro. I just said that I respected certain things that he's done.
O'REILLY: All right, well...
TURNER: What's wrong with that?
O'REILLY: Well, you said respect the man. And I just don't - I can't possibly see how you could do that, but...
TURNER: Of course not.
O'REILLY: Now I asked this question through one of my producers to Ms. Fonda. And I'm going to ask it to you because by reading your book, it struck me that the Vietnam experience changed you. I'm saying to myself, you know, Turner comes into the Vietnam era, conservative guy, pretty much traditional guy, it changes him.
TURNER: Yes.
O'REILLY: It changes him. And now he's a very liberal guy. So I asked Ms. Fonda, didn't it ever bother you that after all your activism and getting America out of Vietnam, which it subsequently did in the mid '70s, that 3 million human beings were slaughtered by the people that you were lionizing, the North Vietnam and the Khmer Rouge Communists who wouldn't have been slaughtered if we stayed. And their skulls were stacked on top of each other. And I never heard from you, Jane Fonda. And I never heard a word from Ted Turner about that. And that, to me, is a good question.
TURNER: You've got me. I didn't really think about it. You know, it didn't make the news very much.
O'REILLY: No, it didn't. And you had a vehicle that you could have had - the revisionist history is what I'm worried about here. I think America's a noble nation. I think we've made mistakes. I think we tried to have freedom in Vietnam for the South Vietnamese. Unfortunately, the government was corrupt. I don't think that was a venal, terrible thing to do. I think we were trying to protect people there.

Washington (CNN) - Breaking ranks with nearly all of his fellow 2016 Republican contenders, Donald Trump says he supports President Barack Obama's decision to reengage diplomatically with Cuba.
"50 years is enough," Trump said in an interview with the Daily Caller published Tuesday, referring to Obama's decision to re-establish U.S. ties with Cuba.
"I think it's fine. I think it's fine, but we should have made a better deal," Trump added. "The concept of opening with Cuba is fine."
http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/08/politics/donald-trump-cuba-diplomatic-opening/index.html
Both men have had successes and failures.
Trump said you can’t just come out and call the party’s leaders liars, because then they won’t deal with you. Maybe that’s the “smart like a fox” thing, but by the same token we’re way past due for somebody biting the bullet and simply telling us the truth and letting the chips fall where they will. Trump should know that. He’s popular largely because he does that. That’s what I love about Trump.
I guess I would say Trump is more shrewd. Cruz has the deeper understanding and the belief that truth and what’s right win on their own merits, without having to deal in the smoky backrooms. Cruz as never really been about knocking out people; he’s always been about knocking out IDEAS, and that’s why I think he has the better brain, even though to be successful sometimes brawn is what gets you there.
Truth is, we need both brains and brawn. It bugs me that brawn is trying to kill off brain, and brain is trying to kill off brawn. I wish they were both fighting off this boa that’s squeezing all our necks instead.
I hate politics.
To which Trump replied to the community organizer: Yes, I did build that. What have you done for America and Americans lately?
Do you REALLY think you would ever find Ted Turner putting his entire business in a trust and running for POTUS on the Republican ticket, I mean come on folks you are being irrational in your arguments!!!!
My dream ticket would be Trump/Cruz I just hope this infighting doesn’t make that impossible!!
Same here.
But I think we need to get the hole in our southern radar defense covered, or it may not matter who wins the election.
VERY TRUE!!!
Well if Obama is against him guess which one would be best for America. Trump says thanks Obama. Go Trump
Where did I suggest Ted Turner would run for president, let alone as a republican? I merely pointed out that just because someone is highly success in business it doesn't mean they're necessarily brilliant, or even sane.
I think President Obama will be very surprised at how “constructive” Trump will be.
