Washington D.C. is currently being bombarded with snowfall, so most government employees thought it would be best to take the day off.
I mean, if it's dangerous, then sure - take the day. But it's pretty typical of the government to do nothing while others go about their business, isn't it?
Check out what's happening during the blizzard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, VA...

You’re probably right. I remember making super and having that happen to me. I was pissed.

I was a grounds keeper at Arlington National Cemetery for two summers when I was in college. I mowed the grass and trimmed hedges and tress etc. It was a very humbling experience. I saw hundreds of funerals. We were required to stop whatever we were doing and wait for a funeral service to end. Several members of my family are buried at Arlington. My father is buried there. He served in WW II and Korea. I visit regularly. I’ve been on almost every square inch of the grounds.
This is a link to a youtube video about the Old Guard. The Oldest Active Regiment in the U.S. Army. As a military brat I spent a good deal of time around Ft. Myer when I was a kid and Arlington Cemetery.

I remember going to see the changing of the guard when I was 8. I wish I knew what it meant when I went to see it, but one day, God willing, I’ll go and see it again with a newfound respect.

I had to read the entire page, I couldn't stop! It's all so beautiful and serene. Amazed at how much respect is given to unknown soldiers right down to the guards not wearing rank insignia. Everything is perfectly planned and all I could think of is those unknown soldiers looking down from heaven, saying, "yup, that's my body down there, thank you for acknowledging us"
Anyway, whether the guard is standing or marching, he'll be out there for two hours in the elements.

Was fortunate to see the changing of the guard on Thursday! Very impressive. Left the March early and now stuck in Pennsylvania.

Those two are thinking Battle of the Bulge and Chosin Reservoir. They won’t fail in their duties.

My family is military (well post) and my dad gets pictures from his friends. I understand this is out on the internet so it is free for you to use. Do you know how to save it to your computer?

Iâve always wondered if thatâs a functional weapon they have. The rifle is probably unloaded.
The bayonet is probably VERY functional, if needed.

I do - but I just wanted to make sure that I gave proper credit to someone if necessary. What an amazing picture of honor, grace and love!

There were a couple of great pictures. I doubt if any of them will make the liberal press. G-d Bless Them.
