Donald Trump said Tuesday that federal regulators should increase the amount of ethanol blended into the nationâs gasoline supply.
Speaking at an event hosted by the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, Trump, a real estate mogul and the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, said the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ought to follow the ethanol volumes Congress set in 2007.
âThe EPA should ensure that biofuel ... blend levels match the statutory level set by Congress under the [renewable fuel standard],â Trump said. The mandate is popular in Iowa, which hosts the nation's first caucuses.

>> raises fuel consumption 10-20 percent while raising the price it costs to blend <<
And it makes food costs higher as well.
And there you have it. Big Government Trump believes in more federal regulations and wants to use the coercive power of government to force you buy more ethanol to ruin your engines.
Instead of supporting the free market, he wants government to subsidize using food for energy, even though it is not good for automobiles, the environment nor the economy in general.
Trump is a big government authoritarian.
Pander of the day. Cruz must have been edging ahead in Iowa. Trump supporters needn’t worry. He will change his mind in two weeks, blow off all questions with a harrumph, and go off on something else.
"You've got to pass it elect him to find out what's inside"
Go government! Go RINOs! Go Trump!
Ethanol made from beat or cane sugar is excluded from the program so that only corn sugar may be used. What does that tell you about the real reason for the ethanol mandate?
-— Art of the deal. Pandering to Iowa with our money. Never mind any conservative principles. Heâs a leader I tell ya! -—
That’s how you win!!! And turn into Al Davis!!!
>> heâs verging on national socialism <<
No, I think it’s more like plain old Bonapartism — the Cult of the Dear Leader.
See, I have been saying that Trump will do or say anything that he wants to advance his own position. Ethanol is horrible for the engines and using food to run cars is stupid.
This is why I don’t trust Trump.
Eerily familiar
>> I wonder what they make <<
Wonder no longer.
It’s maple syrup.
Maybe a good substitute for ethanol in your engine?
Not considering he’s getting together with the GOPe.
Hahahahaha. That will be Trump's new call for a mandate from the EPA in New Hampshire if Kasich inches closer to him in the polls. " WINNING involves putting more maple syrup in our gasoline ! "
Now he saying stupid stuff all of a sudden. He’ll lose votes with this one, big time.
Ok found the context: http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/politics/2015/11/30/epa-ethanol-requirement-for-fuel-supply/76560120/
The ‘not following the law’ point is untrue.
Stupid of Trump to do this, he doesn’t need the thousand or so extra votes he’ll get.
And it’s bad policy.
Yeah ... that about somes it up and lots of people buy into it. Unreal.
I’ll stick with Trump until he goes TOTAL ROGUE, but HERE IS A CONTRASTING STORY concerning our late friend, Representative Larry McDonald.
Just prior to the 1982 national legislative session, the late Georgia congressman Larry McDonald (killed in KAL 007) toured the state with then-Senator Sam Nunn on one of those periodic pre-session dog and pony shows. Traveling with them was a young female reported for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Early in the tour, Larry chatted with this young lady and told her that if she sent honestly reported events on the tour, her bosses back in Atlanta would either âspikeâ them or rewrite them to put the worst possible spin on them to make him look as bad as possible. She replied that, as responsible journalists, they wouldnât do that. Larry chuckled.
At one of their stops, the audience consisted largely of local peanut farmers. Sam Nunn went first with a report on the upcoming Senate agenda. During the Q&A, one of the farmers rose and asked his position on the peanut subsidy. Nunn replied that, since it was so important to the Georgia economy, he supported it and would continue to do so.
When it was Larryâs turn, he reported what he believed was in store for the House session. When the Q&A began, the same farmer rose and asked Larry about the peanut subsidy. Larry paused â then declared that he did not and could not support it as it was completely unconstitutional and went on for several minutes to explain why. When he finished, there was stony silence for what must have seemed an eternity. Then ever so slowly, a few of them clapped, then more applauded then, in small groups they began standing to give a standing ovation to the man whoâd just told them a truth many of them never thought theyâd ever hear from an elected representative, most likely because â in their hearts â they knew it WAS the truth.
Later that day, the young reporter came to Larry with tears in her eyes and told him that, while sheâd reported EVERYTHING that happened at that earlier stop, her editor in Atlanta had rewritten it in such a way as to make McDonald look like a buffoon.
But then, the Atlanta Fishwrapper ALWAYS did that to Larry.
And that’s why Larry had to be “eliminated”. And it’s why guys like Cruz and Trump had better watch their “6”.
Do you also disagree with attacking conservatives from the campaign stage for not agreeing with him that it is government's role to 'take care of everybody' and that 'you conservatives' will just 'have to get used to it!'?
Trump is a fraud. He is saying this win Iowa.
Like 0bama, will say anything to be elected. Yet Conservatives refuse to see this about him.
Trump vs. Hillary = No difference.
I always thought 0bama and the Democrats would seal this nations fate. In the end it just might conservatives, by picking the liberal NY snake oil salesman as their candidate.
