"If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog." That's how Harry Truman downplayed the importance of friendships in politics. But at a certain point, do poor personal relations impede a president's ability to get things done?
On today's Morning Joe, after rolling a clip in which Donald Trump called Ted Cruz a disliked and "very nasty guy" who can't make deals, a discussion ensued as to whether Cruz's personality would be an impediment to his effectiveness as president. Joe Scarborough was particularly harsh in his assessement, saying "it's one thing being an outsider; it's another thing being a pariah."

Cruz is forcing liberal elitist to brightly expose their NY elitist values, they are popping their ugly heads from under cover in droves.
>> I sure donât get the personal attacks on supporters of either Trump or Cruz <<
Argumentum ad hominem est hobgoblinum inferioris mentis.
Yes I will vote for Ted Cruz and I am no new left wing F Republic loon. He has softened a bit over the last month but no one wants to work with a jerk. Yes, it does matter what the people around you who you work with every day thinks. I am officially an any body but Hillary voter. If Ted can win then let’s nominate him, if he can’t then let’s keep looking.
...I’ll take that as a no, you didn’t understand the irony of your own statement.
I saw the interview. Sen. Cruz didn’t say it. Chris Wallace may have inferred it, and I think, if he did, he wrongly inferred it.
Right - like you Trump supporters are winning friends and influencing people.
In spite of the 900+ new Republicans elected in the last 8 years we still have open borders, vets treated worse than prisoners at GITMO, and a struggling middle class in revolt... If Cruz was totally ineffective would he finally 'fit in'?
Well, seeing as there seems to be unanimity in Washington that the US has to be remade and the constitution be damned, I'm okay with a President who doesn't "get things done" if that's the agenda.
