Is Roberts chief justice for life? Or can he be rotated out of the chief’s seat and back benched by a new president? Can a new president name a new chief?
To: springwater13
Has Cruz yet spoken out about what a disaster Justice Roberts is? Interesting that Robers is a guy most of us here believe has been compromised because of something in his background that wasn't part of the narrative.
Just sayin'....

It’s good to hear it now, but I would be more impressed if he made these comments back when Roberts was nominated.

On the subject of SCOTUS Nominees...
This is an interesting read.
Cruz later criticized Roberts, but it was too late.
Read who brought him on board the Bush team.
Read the praise he had for him during the nomination process.
See if you recognize any catch phrases in there. These are the exact terms Cruz uses to describe himself, and my inclination is to consider the terms probably about as accurate.

Can a president name a new chief justice? The idea being that he demotes Roberts to the role of justice and bring up Clarence Thomas?

That's going to leave a mark. Now Cruz is juggling three balls.
- qualification is unsettled
- NY Values position
- recommended a stealth liberal for SCOTUS justice

I don’t recall anyone on the right opposing the Roberts nomination.
In any case Trump blaming Cruz is stupid. Was Trump even a Republican yet at the time?

Besides Lawrence tribe who does he like for the Supreme Court? He hates Golia and when he attacks Kalia he basically took on an issue that Clarence Thomas is closely identified so he really wouldn’t like Clarence Thomas.

Couldn’t Donald Trump just and the Supreme Court and make all legal decisions himself? Go Trump!
