Cruz "insulted a lot of people," Trump said. "I've had more calls on that statement that Ted made. New York is a great place, it's got great people, it's got loving people, wonderful people. When the World Trade Center came down, I saw something that no place on Earth could have handled more beautifully, more humanely than New York."
"[T]wo one hundred and ten story buildings come crashing down. I saw them come down. Thousands of people killed, and the clean up started the next day and it was the most horrific cleanup in the history of doing this and in construction," Trump said.
"I was down there. And I've never seen anything like it. And the people in New York fought and fought and fought and we saw more death and even the smell of death, nobody understood it. And it was with us for months, the smell, the air. And we rebuilt downtown Manhattan and everybody in the world watched and everybody in the world loved New York and loved New Yorkers. And I have to tell you that was a really insulting statement that Ted made."
Cruz did not offer a response to Trump.

Those who want to pander to liberals might want to consider switching to the liberal party.
Go right ahead!
How so? Cruz stuffed his foot in his mouth in an attempt to slam Trump and Trump leveraged it. Small mistakes can be deadly in politics.
Not while running for president and hoping to get them to vote for him...
I laughed out loud when Cruz said at one point, not sure exactly where, “I’m just sayin.” I liked that one! You may have a point here, this could have been set up.
Freeper since August 2015. Go home liberal Trump supporter.
LOL! What do you and the guy you just swatted at appear to have in common?
Hint, it can be found by looking at the donor lists...
Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
We need to ensure we don't get another Obama-like America Hater as the next President.
The best way to ensure that is to actively support a candidate (even if he's "rich enough to do it on his own") as the next President.
I donate to the candidate I support and you should too, else, your "support" really doesn't have any meaning.
It's even worse if you use FR and don't donate. If you are one of those who feel it's OK to use FR daily w/o helping pay to keep the lights on, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches because, functionally, you are no different than any other who enjoys the fruits of others' work for your own benefit. Also, don't be surprised if others decide that your opinions are as worthless as your non-donations - hypocrites aren't worth listening to.
PS - If you are one of those unlucky few who cannot afford even a small donation to FR or a candidate, God Bless and happy FReeping!.....
The leftists swine created inner-city cesspools in every State in almost every county, it was their plan since 1965. The Great Society and immigration invasion in action. This was the (D)ummycrat expansion of slavery to all points North and West, regardless of state. They succeeded.
They are clumps of cancer cells overwhelming the States they infest, not just New York though. Everyone in this thread knows that as a fact.
Cruz led with his chin with that New York remark, and in any fight that is dangerous. But when you're in the ring with a headhunter like Mike Tyson, when you lead with your chin you are really asking for it. This was not unexpected!
I can't believe so many want to follow Cruz off that cliff.
New York went 64-35 statewide last time ( I believe 4.5 million versus 2.5 million. That is a lot of votes against DingleBarry even in this corrupt state. In the 1970's and 1980's it was very close to evenly split. I see it as a stretch for us to gain the necessary 15% swing but it is possible I guess. A half million crossovers makes it 4 million versus 3 million. Trump might get it closer than that. But as far as the primaries is concerned, Cruz made a big mistake. Nothing unites a divided group more than an external enemy, and he really stepped into it.
“Trump was ready with his prepared remarks stretching the connection with Cruzâs statement.”
They all have prepared remarks. You don’t think Cruz knew he would be asked that question?
Oh, brother. Take me off your ping list, please!!!
You keep mentioning deBlasio, he is the mayor of NYC. He does not represent all of NYS. Also he literally squeeked in on a technicality. He is a one termer, gone in a few years.
Rafael Cruz’s smirk as Trump was finishing said everything.
Worth your time.

Agreed.
Cruz wiped the floor with your liberal hero. Once again, Ted came off presidential, and Trump looked like someone’s old ranting uncle at the family cookout, waving his fist and yelling “Hell, yeah!”
Now come on, tell us why we should be all butthurt for those liberal NYC values, LOL.
And now, the much-hated, oft-maligned Megyn Kelly is suddenly a hero among Trumpsters because she and Krauthammer discussed the NYC remarks, LOL! Trumpsters are capable of flipping a 180 so quick it makes heads spin.
Liberal values matter!
Absolutely. Cruz was outstanding: knowledgeable, forceful and presidential. Aside from a couple of answers, Trump was strictly amateur hour.
And Trump's waving of the bloody shirt set a new low --even for him.
Fox picked up the baton this morning and is running with it. It looks like the Establishment has decided to side with Trump.
Last night while we were watching the debate, my husband said, “Wow, Cruz really has a strong voice and powerful delivery.” It’s easy to imagine those Muslim rats in the Middle East listening to President Cruz give his inaugural address and running for cover, knowing it’s all over for them.
Trump was absolutely disgraceful, using 9-11 for political points. It also sounded completely rehearsed.
Well, I guess the Trumpsters will do yet another 180-—as they have this morning with Megyn Kelly-—and start praising Fox, LOL.
