Ted Cruz explains the non-story about his Goldman Sachs loan – [VIDEO]
The Right Scoop ^ | Jan 14, 2016 | The Right Scoop

Posted on 01/14/2016 7:18:11 AM PST by Isara

When you’re at the top the attacks come at you from everywhere. In this case it was a NY Times article that, as Levin suggested last night, was fed to them by some Republican operative working for another campaign. But just like the Trump-ed up birther story, it’s another non-story.

Ted Cruz explains below:

Ted Cruz explains Goldman Sachs loan (Video)

It’s no surprise that Ted Cruz is actually human and makes errors like the rest of us. As he said, the loan against his assets has been disclosed in a variety of other ways so it’s not something he’s been trying to hide. And he’ll amend the filing to fix that should the reports be correct.

There is no conspiracy here. Cruz was going up against Dewhurst who was spending millions upon millions of dollars. It takes money to compete at this level and Cruz was certainly the underdog.

So as I said, nothing to see here. If this is all they have against Cruz, if this is all the dirt they can find on him, then this ‘smoking gun’ is nothing more than a broken water pistol.

Cruz could have liquidated his GS account and poured that cash into his campaign. He didn’t and chose to use Goldman’s cash for his “grass roots” campaign. Just the facts. Sorry you don’t like them but it is what it is.

Yep, it’s the votes by the people that count.

This is why we vet people, folks..... BEFORE the General Election!!

Add to that THIS question.

If they needed to BORROW the money to run the campaign.. how are they going to pay it back? Have they paid it back?

WHO or WHAT were they obligated to to satisfy that loan?

You deny that Trump has surged back in the Iowa polls in the last week?

You deny that Cruz has not improved his position in the polls over the last month?

His ceiling is about 20% nationally.

It matters. They're required to do that. Top lawyers turned politicans know about these things.

Btw, where did Rafael publicly say the money came from?

I don’t have any rocks to throw, because I’ve been through turmoil and know that sometimes details get missed. And unless you’ve successfully navigated all the stuff he’s been through without a single mistake, you don’t either.

Explaining is not the same thing as whining. Whining is more like snide comments...

Why do you call him Raphael when he calls himself Ted?

Wonder if Cruz wore the rolled up flannel work shirt when he went into wifey’s bank with his hands out?

What happens when there's an overload of caucus voters showing up at libraries, churches, schools, etc.?

Evidently there's some kind of program at each venue with any or all candidates or surrogates allowed to make speeches.

How can caucus voters fit into the small rooms of libraries, etc. at one time if they show up in the hundreds and hundreds this particular, hotly-contested primary election time?

In short, there's lots of questions unanswered. For instance, I read somewhere it could be a half-day or more experience to vote. Why?

Anyone know more details about this caucus thing?

Sounds like a dopey procedure to me unless someone can point out why it's superior in this hectic day and age to just showing up and voting, especially if you're working folk, etc.

Having been a part of every caucus since 1972, and being a participant in the recent caucus rule changes, I have no problem saying Fox News is misleading.

In past cycles, caucuses were much more informal and the presidential preference poll was a straw vote, not awarding the ‘winner’ anything tangible.

This cycle, the presidential preference will be formal and about the first order of business, and will determine national delegate votes. The other business of a conventional caucus will take place after the presidential preference vote.

Newbies enthusiastic about a candidate usually just cast their vote and leave. That’s why the 2012 caucuses yielded Ron Paul supporters controlling the national convention delegation. That can’t happen with this cycle’s rule changes.

Something Cruz said in one of the debates when asked about Trump’s “judgment” needs to be reiterated OFTEN: Anybody on that debate stage would make a MUCH better President than Obama or Hillary.

I like both Cruz and Trump, and I think the point for each candidate should not be to show the flaws in the opponent, but they THEY ARE BETTER at what their opponent has flaws in. And they are a HECKUVA LOT better than the current regime or the wannabe democrat regime.

Ultimately there’s a lot I don’t think I have the luxury of caring about. Trump’s divorces. Cruz’s filing mistake on one document out of others that he filled out correctly. Etc. What we need is somebody who loves this country, recognizes her enemies including the domestic ones, and will fight to get the USA back. I don’t care which of these guys gets in because I think they both fit the bill. We just need to make sure that whichever of them is nominated isn’t somehow taken out by the leftists after they are nominated. And make sure we haven’t killed everybody off in the circular firing squad. America needs us to be smarter than that.

One week does not define a trend. In a few more weeks we'll know.

...At 7:00pm, each precinct will be called to order by the temporary chair, an individual appointed by the county party. After a permanent chair and secretary are elected by the body, business can begin.

Since 2016 is a presidential election year, the first item of business will be to conduct a presidential preference poll. After the results are tabulated and announced, other state and county party business will proceed...

“The issue is not that Cruz needed money but that he did not disclose a loan from Goldman/Sachs. Made to his wife. On his behalf. “

Weak Trumpbot. You guys must be getting pointers from Hillary’s campaign!
He did disclose it; and further more it was a loan secured aginst him and his wifes OWN MONEY.
Sleazy stuff to try to use something so weak.

For Iowa it’s only 17 days left. Time is getting compressed for Cruz. Don’t look now, but 2 more polls have showed up with Trump winning by a lot.

Cruz effectively cashed out.

Rather than converting his stocks into cash, he held onto the stocks and took a loan for the cash value.

Trump, the master financier, understands this.

He's just doing his innuendo thing.

I'm sure he's just doing it to help Cruz. < /eye roll>

What were the assets that he had that exceed the value of the loan?
