It is hard not to feel protective over Donald Trump while the political classes are seething and scornful.
They are unacquainted with such powerlessness. Control was never supposed to stray this far from their grasp. And their rage, manifested in every hapless attack on Trump and his supporters, actually seems to be improving the likelihood of that outcome they fear most of all.
How tempting, under these circumstances, to rush to his defense, as so many in the conservative movement have already done. The Donald has boldly made himself a standard bearer of unpopular (â¦within the political bubble), yet critical policy positions concerning national security, from the urgency of immigration enforcement to the potential implications of refugee resettlement.
He has played a pivotal role in dragging these and other issues from the shadows that the media might otherwise have not been so quick to shine a light on. He has made the case against birthright citizenship, spent countless campaign hours pledging to build a wall, and talked tough to the politically correct mafia at a time when its fascistic influence has left millions of citizens feeling voiceless.
Trumpâs style and substanceâbrazen, unapologetic and quite popularâhave upended equanimity on the left, leaving the âpublic intellectualsâ screaming over one another to denounce his absurdity, the effrontery, the horror.

Trump can say whatever he wants, but it doesn’t make it law. I think it will take more than an executive order.
You will see increasingly desperate rhetoric from him over the next few months.
Look how well Tea Party conservatives gowdy, haley, rubio, ellmers, ersnt, tillis, ayotte, rounds, sullivan, fischer, cotton, daines, gardner, and heller and a WHOLE bunch more turned out.
I’ll be glad to... These are just a few, but I’m sure you could have googled it too. You just didn’t want to face the FACTS. Besides, Trump’s documented positions, whether he is a politician or not, are just as relevant as a politicians because it shows his beliefs and gives and indicator of how he will govern. If you don’t understand that then you are worse off than I thought!

SO you put some real money on Cruz? There are betting sites which will be happy to take your money!
“How old are you FRiend?”
Why?? Do you have trouble debating with an adult? Do you intend to hurl insults because you can’t debate the facts? Just curious because it would not be the first time that I’ve seen it on one of these threads (and no I’m not some dumb young, uneducated kid either).
“SO you put some real money on Cruz?”
YES I have. Over a $1k in direct donations so far!
The idea that the US is under such a debt and obligation to FOREIGN INVADERS that we Constitutionally OWE their children citizenship is a symptom of what’s wrong with our current leadership. No country ever placed itself at such mercy to FOREIGN INVADERS as to commit national suicide. As Trump pointed out, and Constitutional scholars agree, our 14th amendment doesn’t do that either.
Hahaha a link to SNL! You are indeed living in dreamland. Do you live in Neverland Ranch by any chance?
Yeah, Levin is not infallible...
“Hahaha a link to SNL!”?????
Again, typical Trumpster that resorts to insults because you can’t debate the facts. You might want to go back to DU for that because it doesn’t work here.
Check with me at GOP convention. I will have tissue ready to wipe your tears for money wasted.
“Check with me at GOP convention”
Man, you are full of the insults tonight. I guess you can’t handle that your candidate is a LIBERAL FRAUD!
Those pesky FACTS just get in your way. Your a typical liberal and belong in the Trump camp!
“Sessions defended Cruz from criticism about his 2013...”
You do realize who started the attacks about Cruz’s records, right?? It was Rubio AND Trump! I’m sure you’re capable of Googling too, but you will find other articles which talk about Sessions defending Cruz against baseless attacks that were generated by Trump and his supporters, unless you want to sit there and tell me that Trump never brought up Cruz’s immigration record (which we all know would be a giant fib). It really is not that hard!
LOL....two fibs in one post :)
I think we get his/her point - throw just any old thing out there and see if it sticks ;-)
“LOL....two fibs in one post :)”
No hardly. I love the way Trumpsters constantly resort to name calling when the FACTS slap them in the face.
Show me ANYWHERE in my post that I stated the article mentioned Trump’s name. You can’t; because I didn’t. I only stated that it appears that Sessions is taking a side against attacks by Trump.
Reading comprehension really is not a strength of Trumpster or else they would actually READ the statements and policies by Trump and realize that he supports LIBERAL policies.
It doesn’t take wartime powers to correct a misreading of the Constitution. But I can certainly see now why you are for Cruz. You seem enamored of the idea that our own Constitution prioritizes the rights of illegals, birth tourists and actual foreign invaders over the best interests of the country and its citizens. Thus you want another politician to ensure that nothing much changes. Happily, it doesn’t look like you’ll get your wish.
