After months of responding to Donald Trump's attacks by deflecting them, joking about them or just plain ignoring them, Ted Cruz struck back late Tuesday with a stream of pointed criticism directed at the GOP front-runner.
At events in New Hampshire and in radio interviews, Cruz took direct aim at Trump on several fronts: tying the billionaire to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, questioning his ability to win a general election, casting doubt on his ability to serve as commander in chief and disputing his "New York values."
The swiftness and ferocity of the attacks is striking for Cruz, who said as recently as Monday that he didn't want to go to war with Trump. The two men are battling for the top spot in polls in Iowa, which host the first-in-the-nation caucuses Feb. 1. Cruz said Tuesday that Trump was clearly feeling the pressure.
Cruz took direct aim at Trump's competence. "Does a potential commander in chief know what the nuclear triad is, much less is he or she prepared and able to strengthen it and keep this country safe?" Cruz asked on "The Hugh Hewitt Show." In a Republican debate last month, Trump was asked about the nuclear triad and had trouble with the explanation.
And he jabbed Trump on the billionaire's cosmopolitan lifestyle. “I think he may shift in his new rallies to playing New York, New York, because Donald comes from New York and he embodies New York values,†Cruz told Carr.

I would love to see Cruz become president, the only problem is he hasn’t got a snowballs chance in hell of winning against the democrats. Oh yes he does!!! He is the Cuban Ronald Reagan!!!
Cruz is a one term senator with zero executive experience whose biggest retort to Trump just proves Trump's point that Cruz will be sued by Democrats over the fact he is a dirty Canuckistinian.
Cruz should have gotten some experience instead of letting his Ego put him where he is today.
Five and half years as the most successful and activist Solicitor General Texas has ever had, managing over 700 lawyers. I’d say Ted Cruz has had plenty of executive power experience alright.
I never stated that Jeb or Christie were conservative.
I merely stated that Perry and Walker are more conservative than
Trump. They are.
Trump was pro amnesty before he was against it. Fact.
So which side is he on now? Only Trump really knows.

Cruz has the tiger by the tail, and I don’t think he’s ready.
I guess one needs to define "rational thinking" in order to put things in perspective. You obviously don't like Trump (I'm a Cruz first and Trump second person because nobody else is suitable) but do you dislike him enough to pass on him and let Hillary or Bernie in like folks did to allow Obama 2 terms?
Does anyone compare the damage already done with the damage to come if one allows another far Leftist who cares nothing about the Constitution or them dang inconvenient laws?
Does one consider the difference between someone 'who is OK with homosexual marriage/and was OK with abortion, and someone who is rabidly pro homo/abortion and who will break laws to elevate those items above decent Americans?
How much do we think we can actually aid and abet the Evil side and still call it "rational thinking"?
Some say they can't bring themselves to vote for a Trump and I say I can't stop myself from voting for a trump. To pass on him is to tacitly prefer the darker side of things.
Maybe we've gotten so lazy (it was our side's apathy for decades that allowed things to get this bad) that we aren't willing to actually roll up our sleeves and work - if we can't have everything in one fell swoop, we opt to drop out and go whine about how bad things are.
Hate to say it, but no matter who gets in, we are going to have a lot of disappointed folks because they envision changes that will set everything right w/o considering that no matter how much progress is made, it will inconvenience a lot of folks and it will only be a step in the right direction - the process took a long time with a rabid and tireless Left working 24/7 and it will take a lot of time and work (eternal vigilance) to make things right.
Find faults instead of looking for solutions - that seems to be our battle cry (whine/snivel/moan).
We are oh-so-capable of discerning the slightest flaw in our side, but seem incapable of discerning the functional differences between our side (flawed as they may be) and are too willing to ignore the damage we help wreak.
That is why we are so screwed - to many nitpicking carpers and n ot enough solution-oriented folks. We have who we have to choose from because we aren't active enough in the process - we whine about paid and bought for candidates (Trump ain't one) and we refuse to invest ourselves with our own donations and work to boost real conservatives (we seem to think, that like Neo, they will just pop onto the scene and be elected into office where they will make everything right.
We are screwed because we are lazy and cheap and stupid except when it comes to trashing any who might end up on our side (after allowing them to be placed there).
Functionally, we are just as base and useless as those we deride - big talkers and big egos playing a game because to make it real takes actual cost and effort beyond blathering about how bad things are.

Impressive, but ...
Cruz has excellent legal and legislative experience, but that’s not high finance executive experience. Big difference.
Trump vowed to end wimpy rules of engagement on Day One and to arm the military on bases. Did Cruz agree? If so, who said that first?
Next I’ll post what I like about Cruz. I favor Trump, but not wholeheartedly.

Top of the food chain in the legal community and legislative experience.
[But I still favor Trump.]
A lot of people think that Trump is a super-villain.
That would mean the following:
1. Hannity is in on it.
2. Rush is in on it.
3. Herman Cain is in on it.
4. Senator Jeff Sessions is being duped.
5. Phyllis Schlafly is being duped.
6. And Michael Savage, probably the most paranoid anti-establishment paranoid talk radio host around, is also being duped.
I’m sure the list is even longer than that.
In the meantime, this ‘super-villain’ was attacked during the response to the State of the Union Address by the ‘G’ OP. About as strong an endorsement in his favor as you can get.

Trump has broken all the conventional rules of campaigning and is still holding on to his soaring supremacy.

Actually the GOPe had rather have Trump than Cruz in the WH.
All true but there are a couple of things I like about the Trump candidacy. One, he is breaking the back of the Bush dynasty. Two, he may break the back of the Clinton dynasty.
And . . . Trump is a white male which means he can be impeached and that Congress will be allowed to control the budget strings. Because of Obama’s and Clinton's gimmicks, those checks and balances are off the table for them.
