Team Obama Joins Donald Trump’s Attack On Ted Cruz’s Citizenship
Breitbart ^

Posted on 01/06/2016 12:14:41 PM PST by springwater13

During the White House press briefing this afternoon, one reporter explained the fight between Cruz and Trump and asked if the president was enjoying the drama around Cruz's citizenship.

"I don't know if he does, but I sure do," Earnest quipped as reporters chuckled in response.

Earnest then seemed willing to feed the narrative questioning Cruz's citizenship.

"It would be quite ironic if after 7 or 8 years of drama around the president’s birth certificate if Republican primary voters were to choose Senator Cruz as their nominee," he said. "Somebody who actually wasn’t born in the United States and only 15 months ago renounced his Canadian citizenship."

Cruz has been challenged being on the ballot so far in NH, VT, and FL as being ineligible because he is not a natural born citizen. There will be more challenges.

Yes, it should be adjudicated in the courts FINALLY. And in making his case Cruz should absolutely bring up the issue of whether foreign-born Obama has set a precedent 0 thus enabling discovery so he can make his case. The fact that AZ SOS requested verification of Obama’s birth facts and did not receive a legally-valid verification of those birth facts is evidence that there is no legally-valid BC for Obama in Hawaii, and yet Obama was allowed to occupy our White House. Cruz should be able to make that case.

And if Trump is the one who sues him - sooner rather than later - they can have time to get depositions to make that case, and Trump’s lawyers could help rather than hinder Cruz in getting those answers so the judges can sort out this whole sordid mess.

C Edmunch Wrong is so full of shiite...he wouldn't know the Mahdi from his mommie.

But he is published on the interweb...and that makes him someone to listen to.

Except when we listen to him of FR, we realize that he is not someone to listen to.

Man, I should have seen this sooner. Imho, Mr. Trump is conducting his presidential primary run like an episode of The Apprentice, coupled with Survivor.

Brilliant!

Whenever you say something that Obama endorses, you should stop saying it. I mean, if you want to be the republican nominee.

If Trump and Cruz play this right they can wipe Obama off the face of the earth, along with all his criminal accomplices in the US and abroad. If these 2 guys really want to save America from Obama and reintroduce accountability into this process, this is their golden hour to do it. I’m eagerly watching to see what they do with this. And praying for wisdom on the part of both of them.

They could very, very easily be stringing Obama along, right up to the gallows. If they have the courage to put their money where their mouths are.

C Edmund,

You are a good writer with good ideas.

But you are a petulant child on Free Republic.

Show some dignity and respect for the honor you have earned with your writing.

Be kind to Freepers who can't express themselves as well as you.

Be magnanimous.

It's an honorable quality.

whistleblowers will need to be the first to come out of the woodwork because the truth will out and those who tell the truth last will be the first ones strung up and hanged until dead.

If the universe is kind, that must be Pelosi...
She "certified" him with zero documentation.

“Hey Trump-hater.”

Blow it out your butt. I’ve defended Trump when I think he deserves it. On this, he is wrong. But he was right earlier:

“Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump, with whom Cruz has maintained an alliance of sorts, has raised the issue in the past but appears to have backed away from it in recent months. “I hear it was checked out by every attorney and every which way and I understand Ted is in fine shape,” Trump told ABC News in September.”

https://www.texastribune.org/2015/11/29/citizenship-questions-continue-follow-cruz/

Just like on the question, “Would Hillary be a fine President of the USA?”, Trump changes his tune when it suits him.

If that doesn’t bother you...well, it does me. A man who thought Obama was doing a fine job in April 2009 who runs as a conservative in 2016 worries me.

I may have a stroke but not over this.

I’m disappointed in Trump and nobody can make me believe he did this to help clear the way for Cruz to be Veep or anything else.

Trump is for Trump. Cruz has not attacked him.

I will vote for Trump if he gets the nomination, but my enthusiasm for him has taken a hit.

“the Constitution’s Article II is unconstitutional because it is not enforceable”

It is enforceable. In Congress. Congress can and has entertained challenges to the results of presidential elections. It happens pretty regularly.

For example:

“Alleging widespread “irregularities” on Election Day, a group of Democrats in Congress objected earlier Thursday to the counting of Ohio’s 20 electoral votes.

The challenge was defeated 267-31 by the House and 74-1 by the Senate, clearing the way for the joint session to count the votes from the remaining states.”

http://edition.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/01/06/electoral.vote/

All it takes is one House member and one Senator to agree to make an objection, and Congress will halt proceedings until a vote is taken. THAT is the constitutional way to challenge the results of a presidential election. Check out Amendment 12...

Prediction: Cruz is off the short list for Trump VP. The Master Persuader filter says Trump would not elevate this issue if he wanted Cruz to later be part of the ticket. And this won’t rinse off.

So if he becomes the President, which Trump will be in office? The one who liked Hillary and Obama, or the one who says he is a conservative?

Can't argue with such impeccable logic.

Give me someone who is a consistent and proven liar.... Hillary.

Works for me.
Almost.

How can Congress Constitutionally interpret the US Constitution, when the Constitution specifically gives the interpretation and application of the Constitution to the judiciary? What the statute allows Congress to contest is whether the votes from each state have been properly certified.

I can not get over your churlishness. Why would you make this into a personal attack?

We don’t get to say that if our Founders met Ted Cruz they would think he was a standup guy, no problem here. It is not set up to be judged on a case to case basis. There is a standard of proof that has been set up by the State Department based on the Ordinances that have been written over the years.

It is very possible Cruz has met it, probable even. If no one pushes the issue he may not need to demonstrate he has met the standard. As another poster has pointed out this is a viable course for him.

With posters such as you I feel sorry to have bothered to set out the issues involved since you are not interested in discourse or even in agreeing to disagree only in trying to silence disagreement by being disagreeable.
