Full title: Tripwire Alert – Donald Trump Warns GOPe Brilliantly – Understands Mississippi – Places Chris McDaniel Lawyer Mitch Tyner Center Stage…

We try not to underestimate Donald Trump any longer. In the beginning of this campaign we thought no candidate could thoroughly comprehend the tentacles of the Machiavellian schemes as well those who research these endeavors 24/7/365.

However, we are continually amazed at how The Donald not only understands the constructs, but has an insight to fire subtle shots in their direction that only those who are immersed in politics can see. Not trying to give him too much credit, but damn, the man represents the smartest republican political strategist in our lifetime – and he’s also the flippin’ candidate.

Did you see Sundance’s answer to Minnie Pearl?

“Spin. What is written there is PURE spin and a heavy dose of BS.

If you actually watched Cruz through the Cochran/McDaniel/McConnell/Barbour fiasco you would know Mitch McConnell told Cruz to stay out of 2014 GOP primaries. The “win new senate seats” is pure spin. Cruz did what McConnell told him to do in October/November 2013.

Cruz and Cruzbots, then as now, doth protest too much.

When “exactly” did Cruz quit the NRSC? Yeah, I thought so.”

Typically distortion from the ConTrumpHouse about Cruz.

From Ted Cruz Gets a Boost in Mississippi From a Tea Party Stalwart

Mr. McDaniel his state co-chairman in Mississippi, hoping to tap the large conservative grass-roots movement that propelled Mr. McDaniel to a near victory in the Republican Senate primary last year.

"He's the pre-eminent conservative in this country," Mr. McDaniel said of Mr. Cruz in an interview.

That ws Katrina Pierson.

Her loss to Sessions was not a negative.

Her running in that race against republican incumbent Sessions showed she had moxie and political smarts.

Thanks! I didn’t notice my phone auto-corrected Kat Pierson’s last name to Pierce. Yes her ‘loss’ was certainly far from a career ender. It looks like it was just a slight bump on a very promising road.

“I bought that after Christmas and intend to read it soon. I think it should give some insight into pre-candidate Trump.”

Reading it now, along with 3 more of his books i ordered recently. I’ve never seen his reality show and have never paid much attention to him over the years, but was intrigued from day one last summer when he announced.

The more I read, the more I’m realizing that my initial gut reaction about him — that he’s a lot deeper than he wants his enemies to think — is being confirmed on every page. He is purposely trying to ensure that his enemies underestimate him at every turn, and he views this as a huge advantage. That’s a testimony to his self-confidence, really. He’s willing to let the entire world think he’s an impatient idiot blowhard because he knows he’ll be the winner in the end.

It’s not hard to see the subtle nuances behind his words and body language; anyone wanting to see it just needs to pay close attention to the “what, when, and how” of things he says and does. But his political enemies are either:
- too stupid to notice they’re being played
- too emotional to examine him objectively
- too rigid to sit down and read his books to study Trump-facts that may go against their preconceived notions, and/or
- too proud to admit they could be wrong.

And I cannot BEGIN to explain how enjoyable this is to watch.

Interesting!

Here’s a post on Trump I made last month that you might find interesting.

The original post there, and the story I brought to the thread, shows some of that depth you’re talking about.

I'd rather see Cruz deal with the Senate as VP... I'd rather see Cruz as AG.

I'm torn.

On the one hand, I'm afraid of raiding the Senate for too many Cabinet positions and risk losing the majority. On the other hand, the VP slot doesn't require Senate confirmation, which I'm certain McConnell will torpedo if Cruz is the nominee before them.

That said, the VP slot is largely ceremonial and Cruz is not needed to win Texas, so he might be wasted there. If he were to survive confirmation for AG, he'd be relentlessly attacked as the next Ashcroft in a preemptive neutering.

So, back to the Senate... As VP, Cruz would be president of the Senate, which is also ceremonial; Cruz would not be allowed to participate in floor debate and the likelihood of tiebreaking seems remote. This makes me think that Cruz could be most effective right where he is.

Cruz, with a President Trump backing him, might finally be able to build a coalition strong enough to challenge McConnell, considering that McConnell's gang is nearing their 70s and people want to go where the power and influence is. Cruz might even be able to position himself for Majority Leader in 2018 with Trump filling his sails.

Leave the VP and AG positions open for more strategic picks.

Thoughts?

Meg Whitmam, ceo of eBay, is one of the most accomplished women in history. Yeah, she lost to Brown in CA for the governorship, but she could help Trump there.

Whitman would be a terrible VP choice. Dimb bulb who rose on somebody else’s idea at eBay and is not much of a campaigner at all. Even Fiorina would be better than her.

Actually, I’d be surprised if McConnell would try to torpedo Cruz for AG, because that would mean getting him out of the Senate.

I suppose it's possible, if McConnell is a "Live and let live" kind of guy. I don't think he is, especially where Tea Party conservatives are concerned. I don't think McConnell would be happy with a viable Ted Cruz at Justice looking over his shoulder for four years, and waiting for 2020.

I think McConnell would prefer to "seek and destroy" someone like Cruz as soon as possible, just for the satisfaction of knowing it's done.

Then, if Cruz remains in the Senate, all proverbial hell will break loose in the body. That would be virtually unprecedented (in the modern era, at least) for a party leader to sink (with extreme prejudice) a member of the same party in that body for a high Cabinet slot. Opposition, yes (somewhat along the lines of “borking” ex-Sen. John Tower for Defense under Bush I), but that would’ve been the equivalent of Bob Dole trying to sink him.

This is my most enjoyable campaign season EVER, and I don't feel it necessary to do anything but sit back and watch from a great distance.
