Tehran (AFP) - Iran's Revolutionary Guards have so many missiles they don't know where to hide them, a senior commander said at Friday prayers, after the United States threatened to impose fresh sanctions.
"We lack enough space in our stockpiles to house our missiles," said General Hossein Salami, the Guards' deputy, as a row with the US over Iran's ballistic missile programme deepened.
"Hundreds of long tunnels are full of missiles ready to fly to protect your integrity, independence and freedom," he told worshippers in Tehran, promising to never "stop developing our defence deterrent".
Iranian state television aired in October unprecedented footage of such an underground missile base.
The general's comments came after reports that the US had planned -- but later shelved -- to unveil a fresh round of sanctions following two recent missile tests by the Islamic republic.
The mooted financial penalties on companies and individuals in Iran, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates, for apparent links to Tehran's missile programme, highlighted worsening US-Iran relations.

If they are making that claim, then count on it being just more sabre rattling made of tin-foil.

The only safe option for us now is to carpet bomb the whole country with nukes.
Why do they need all these missiles? John Kerry agreed to protect them from attack.
That won’t make much of a difference if Jericho delivered nuclear ordinance turns their ten or fifteen largest municipal areas into wasteland.
It is one thing to have a number of specimens of missiles, another thing entirely to deploy them effectively.
Now, Iran may have a number of really good technical types working on the preparation and launch of these missiles, but one is reminded to the V-1 and V-2 blitzes that Hitler launched at England during the Second World War. While terrifying and disruptive, the damage they did in no serious manner deterred the British one bit, and probably stiffened their resolve sufficiently to firebomb several German targets, with nary a twinge of conscience.
The Gulf Arabs were reported in negotiations to buy Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system a few months ago.
It would be sold through an American company partnering with Israel.
The Gulf countries are right across the water from Iran.
Salami? I thought pork was forbidden. ;)
Salami?
Baloney!
If the body count were to be kept since 911, the muzzies would be faced with a 10 to 1 defeat conservatively.
I'm just stunned...they keep coming. We keep killing, they keep coming. Someday, we'll run out of muzzies to kill.
Keep it up Iran....the next president is only 12 months away. If it goes as I believe it will...better find a hiding place for all those fireworks buck-o.
In fact, the -entire- V2 program cost about the same as the Manhattan project and produced the results of about 2 Air raids from the 8th Air Force.
And we could do those two to three times a week.
“It would be sold through an American company partnering with Israel.”
Wonderful opportunity to make the Gulf Arabs choose. Openly do business with Israel, or enjoy Iranian rocketry. Why do we always coddle and make it easy for these racist A-holes?
As one armchair general said - its not how much or how good your stuff is - what counts is where it is.
R.V. Jones, chief scientific adviser to the RAF during the War, who predicted to within a week the beginning of the V1 onslaught (among other accomplishments), said after the War that the chief question concerning V-Waffen among intelligence officials after War was not “How did they do it?”, but rather, “Why?”.
The question in the United States in the 1950’s was “Can the AEC (Atomic Energy Commission) make ballistic missiles practical?” Without small atomic warheads, ballistic missiles are not practical weapons.

“I’m just stunned...they keep coming. We keep killing, they keep coming. Someday, we’ll run out of muzzies to kill.”
That’s what the Holy Romans, the Spaniards, and the French said ... for 500 years ...
Very true. And on a similar note people used to freak out about the enormous Soviet rockets. Our bigger is better mentality made us forget that they HAD to build big ones because they had no small deliverable nuke.
Takes a big rocket to deliver an early 50s nuke.
I think the Israelis have always looked for ‘friends’ in the Arab world and discreetly done business with them.
Open friendship with Israel is deadly. Jordan’s king was murdered back in 1950, the grandfather of the current one, for being too friendly.
