Ted Cruz says Bill Clinton not an issue in presidential race

Ted Cruz says he won't use former President Bill Clinton's political liabilities against Democratic presidential contender and former First Lady Hillary Clinton.

"I am not interested in getting into personal attacks and innuendo," he said Tuesday at a news conference in Cisco. "Hillary Clinton’s biggest liability is that her policies are a disaster."

New York businessman Donald Trump, the frontrunner in the Republican race for president, has used Twitter to black Bill Clinton as abusive to women.

"If Hillary thinks she can unleash her husband, with his terrible record of women abuse, while playing the women’s card on me, she’s wrong! Mr. Trump said Monday via Twitter.

Cruz says he won't engage in such attacks.

Instead, he outlined how he would contrast himself with Clinton, should he get the Republican nomination for president.

"Because of the Obama/Clinton economic policies, millions of Americans are hurting," he said. “We have the lowest percentage of Americans working since 1977."

He added that "the Obama/Clinton foreign policy is terrible because of the strengthening of Iran and the rise of the Islamic State.

"That is a record that is substantially indefensible," he said.

Bill Clinton not an issue in presidential race

Neither is "sexism" an issue in the presidential race.

"Sexism", a word and concept conceived by the Left, is, like racism, NONE of the government"s business. But if Hillary and the Left want to make "sexism" and issue with Trump, Trump has every right to go after Bill Clinton, Hillary's thought-to-be ticket to the White House. This isn't like the lying Left inventing smear stories that are completely irrelevant as well as lies. Again, if Hillary and the Left want to make an issue of it, then Trump should respond with the TRUTH about who these hypocritical scoundrels really are.

Cruz seems unwittingly to be falling for political correctness here by obeying the Left's rules about what is "hands off". ENOUGH ALREADY. The Corrupt Clintons need to be blasted and doing so would be a big relief to the American People IMO.

Not going after Bill Clinton after Hillary raises the "women's movement" and "sexism" card is not the high road and it's not brilliant, it's the politically-correct stupid road IMO. Reagan took the gloves off when necessary, showing the world what these Leftist scoundrels stand for. It's time for someone to take the Left (and the Clintons) down again.

"Ted will lose support over this. He probably thinks it will help him in Iowa. I think he just lost Iowa."

I wonder if Trump will paint him as "weak" over this, up to now he really hasn't had any reason to go after him...we'll see.

There you go....That’s why you’re not responded to. You don’t even have the grace to admit when you’re wrong.

Yeah, ok. Cruz people need to stop living in this absurd political kindergarten. He is not going to ”destroy” her with some cutesy quip.

I'm in a good mood today, so I'll refrain from blasting Trumpettes about their own set of fantasies about their "destroying" Clinton in a general election.

Trump recently explained that was his role as a businessman, not a potential president.

Really, Ted should know that Mr. Bill isn’t going to let anybody ignore him. He’ll steal the spotlight from Mrs. Bill if he gets bored.

Ted was also said to look weak when he did not say too much when the media referred to his daughters as “monkeys”. Mr. Bill or The Donald would have made that a huge non-stop issue.

She never smiled at trump with the inference that he was doing a great job running as president

That wedding photo was a schmooze she gives to anyone who has money. And she has raked in billions

What's amazing to me is that explanation is good enough for some people. The question is: what political favors did his business get for his prevarication? Should all business people support leftist?

If he can be dragged into it, he does not have what it takes. Cannot beat the media, will not win. He needs to get smart.

ie: hillary and "guilt by association"

Oh, it's much more than that. She enabled Bill's very bad behavior with other women....even helped him avoid responsibility. Just what branch of Christianity permits a wife to enable her husband's adultery?

Cruz saying it's not an issue is like Sanders saying no one cares about hillary's emails. hillary has time and again demonstrated that it is not a moral or ethical compass that guides her.

In a campaign, it's a winning issue, that it's about time we go someone decent in the WH. Why would Cruz avoid that discussion?

Alarm bells go off when a Republican starts signaling that he’s too good, too refined, too high-minded, too virtuous, etc., to use certain facts in a campaign. It’s self-regarding, and it’s usually surrender.

The entire Republican party—GOPe, Hannity, Levin, Rush, and all talkers except Savage and Boyles—were too good, too high-minded, too virtuous, too intellectual, to discuss Obama’s crudely-forged “birth certificate,” the proof (provided on a silver platter by Jack Cashill) that Bill Ayers wrote DREAMS, Obama’s membership in Man’s Country, Jeremiah Wright’s racism and Marxism, etc., etc.

If Cruz is concerned about his reputation as a combination of intellectual and lawyer, he’s self-crippling as candidate—and the root cause is vanity.

“Its typical GOPe to disarm yoursekf in the face of a ruthless foe.”

Perfectly stated.

And may I add to let them know ahead of time you are unarmed.

Trumpettes? Is that like yet another stupid name you Cruz supporters (notice the lack of child is moniker) came up with?

And #2, we don’t need to spin a bunch of promises of what Trump will do to them seeing that he is doing it right now, might I add with a lot of Cruz supporters moaning about how much of a “bully” he is.

This is the right strategy for Cruz, and it shows right in this very thread.

During Bill’s Presidency, Bill said we got two for the price of one. That it would be a Co-Presidency. Doesn’t the same apply to a Hillary regime? It’s stupid to say Bill is off limits.

Cruz doesn’t have to speak to it— because there’s no end to those who will.

Fine. And that will give people a reason to vote for Cruz because......

Well then do you agree with what he said as a private citizen in 2008 or him as a candidate in 2016?
